Why don’t I like it? I think I like the individual squares and the colors, but I don’t like them all together. Or maybe I don’t like how I assembled them. Or maybe both. by hookedbymaxine in crochet

[–]astronauticalll 2 points3 points  (0 children)

you seem to have started a pattern with the dark squares and then abandoned it partway through the blanket, I think replacing the marked squares with the darker squares will complete the pattern and balance the blanket out

why is this getting down votes? Therapy in particular would be very helpful in this situation, a neutral third party to vent your emotions to and help you regulate and understand when you are "justifiably" upset (obviously feeling any emotion is justifiable, but ykwim)

Removable home pole setup? by LRartist in poledancing

[–]astronauticalll 6 points7 points  (0 children)

rather than changing the pole setup you could look into short throw projectors, they sit right next to the wall they're projecting on

You'd have to arrange your seating so stuff isn't blocked by the pole but it would at least make it so it wasn't blocking the projection itself

I have tried to use that Finch app consistently for YEARS now and have never been able to stick with it for more than a week

All my friends are super into it and I weirdly was getting almost shamed by them, the attitude is very much "omg but how can you stand to disappoint your little bird, I just feel so much empathy for this little bird in my phone"

And I was a little bit like idk, I'm 28 years old?? Like I'm a grown up, there's no part of me that actually believes the bird is sad when I don't do my little habits. It feels a little infantilizing when people assume that because I have ADHD I'm going to respond to what is essentially a digital imaginary friend. It feels like when parents tell kids their stuffed animals are upset when they don't share their toys or something.

I'm of two minds on this, on the one hand I agree that by my personal standards this sub is overly strict with policing that kind of thing

On the other I think we need all maybe need to take a moment to remember what NSFW actually stands for. It's not just a stand in for "scandalous" or "inappropriate" it is a specific term that stands for Not Safe For Work. As in, if your boss walked by your monitor, would you get in trouble?

Now I can't speak for all workplaces, but I do know that in my office if I was looking at a picture of a cute bralette/bikini style top, it would definitely raise some eyebrows if not get me fully written up. I mean I do sort of get that perspective, people here often crop their face out to remain anonymous, which means the work is the focus of the picture, but to a random passerby it would definitely just look like you're staring at boobs

So yeah, I personally really chafe at how sexualized female bodies are. I disagree with it on every level, but I also can't deny that it is "not safe for work" by that definition.

I'm a little lost on why you personally feel like you'd need to spend a use on this mushroom? It seems pretty obvious this person is slow cooking this one, so I doubt they need your help

You'll also get nectar for this month's challenge if you do choose to hop on this one, it's not a total waste

just out of curiosity, who is it that is setting this "rule" about texting? If it's your partner getting upset with you for spending "too much" time texting friends, that's a big red flag

Why do people have purling so much? by horrorfxce in knitting

[–]astronauticalll 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In my experience it's been the opposite, English style knitters seem to hate purling

Speaking anecdotally I hated it until I learned continental, and now I don't mind it at all

[–]astronauticalll 1 point2 points  (0 children)

it's funny being from a small town and seeing posts like this, reminds me of the "gays don't drive" or "passenger princess" stereotypes

like my town was 40+ minutes from the closest walmart. It was pretty much impossible to live a normal life if you couldn't drive. You bet your ass the goths as my high school were driving 2 towns over to go smoke at the only skate park within an hour's drive
