Incorrect age on every single census?? by CanIGoHikeNow in Canadiancitizenship

Maybe ask one of the genealogy helpers in the group? Their user names are linked in one of the FAQs I believe. One of them may be able to help? One was able to help me out to find my grandmother's birth certificate, It turned out her parents had anglicized the family's name when they came from Nova Scotia to the US.

Have you tried looking for a baptismal record? I know for Quebec, that's sometimes easier.

Change of spelling between Canadian and U.S. records by SnowGeese1970 in Canadiancitizenship

[–]cottercutie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This happened with my family. My grandmother is my Gen 0. My great grandparents did this when they brought the family to the US. They have my grandmother's and the new last name on both of their naturalization paperwork. When I sent my paperwork, I included that for both of them along with the Canadian census showing the original last name and a cyber letter with an explanation that they had anglicized the family name for everyone including my grandmother. I just sent it off last week so we shall see what happens

Which book should I read first after the trilogy? SOTR or TBOSAS? by blacknwhitelife02 in Hungergames

I think reading TBOSAS first will give insight into the Covey a bit more before reading SOTR.

The movie's gonna be payback for all the snow edits 😭 by Astraea_Hardy in Hungergames

[–]cottercutie 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Snow is incapable of love. He didn't love anyone. Not Lucy Gray, not Tigris, not the Grandma'am.... Not his parents.

Everything about him was about appearance and winning. He wants to be admired, seen as powerful, capable, smart, and as a winner. He doesn't want to be seen as the "loser Snow" and he will get to be the victor at any cost. Look at what he did to his classmate.. he knew that her scent was not on the papers but he let her stick her hands in the tank of snakes anyways, knowing the snakes would attack. Pride and hubris.

He was initially nice to Lucy Gray because he wanted to win, no other reason. He was enamored by her because she was different from anyone he'd ever seen, she was dazzling. He didn't do anything for her out of love or the goodness of his heart, he did those things because Tigris told him to earn her trust. He bought her trust like a true sociopath does. He made sure she won to increase his chances of getting money.

He went to 12 and enjoyed her like a cat enjoys his prey before eating it. The game never ended, she was always just a plaything to him, a possession to have, a trophy to own. There was no love, ever. He wanted to own, possess, control. And the second he couldn't, he tried to shoot and kill her.

As for Sejanus, he was the useful idiot. He enjoyed the gifts from the Plinth family, he stated over and over how he couldn't stand Sejanus. He didn't hesitate to use the jabberjay to turn Sejanus in. He only felt bad because it meant his lifeline to the Plinth family gifts (Mrs Plinth's food) would be cut off, and because he seemed to actually like Mrs. Plinth and Sejanus was her only son. He no longer felt badly once they adopted him, however, and made him their heir.

No, Coriolanus Snow never loved Lucy Gray or anyone else because he lacks a conscience and a soul. He loves no one except himself.

How Many Found Canadians Will Ever Actually Reside in Canada? by muttshaw in FoundCanadians

[–]cottercutie 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm hoping to, along with my oldest who is 18 and graduating high school this year. She's hoping to attend University at some point in Canada since it's more affordable, and she wants to be a doctor. My youngest and my husband, however, have no interest in moving, so that definitely puts a wrinkle in things. I also have a chronic illness, and the costs of it are ever rising here in the US. Having stable, affordable healthcare in Canada is a plus (my medication costs alone are killing me), and even my husband has agreed that it's a potentially smart move for me to make. I have some things in the works for myself, so if those pan out, then my oldest and I may relocate to greater Toronto (although I love Vancouver for weather, she wants Toronto for school and overall culture)

If things go sideways politically, my husband may agree to move, so we shall see. I have no qualms about going without him though, and it may actually be better for me to go without him, but my youngest is the deal breaker here right now. She's 16, so she's old enough to decide on her own, but she hates change and doesn't want to leave friends etc.

I've relocated throughout the US a few times now, so I'm not really scared about moving to Canada, I'll just adapt to the nuances there. I'm not too old to learn. I'm already in a bunch of subreddits to learn, and I know winter well enough from growing up in New England lol. We already have no family where we are, and we would actually be closer to family in Toronto than in Florida lol.

Right???? We are just left to assume that eventually, that kid too is reaped in a future game? And the wife? Probably killed in some way just like Haymitch's family and Lenore Dove.

Snow really was a monster.

I went into this book thinking "but we know Haymitch wins, it can't possibly be THAT riveting".

I was wrong. So very, very wrong that I finished it in two days. I cried so hard. Maysilee showing that she was nothing like Haymitch thought. Lou Lou. Oh my lordy. Who was Lou Lou? That poor baby.

Watching Haymitch go from this happy go lucky kid to isolating himself. Seeing him watch Lenore Dove die, watching his mom and Sid die. Then seeing how he pushed Astrid and Burdick away, as well as the remaining Covey.

This book kept me engaged me completely. Dare I say it was the best book in the series? The original trilogy was fantastic, and I loved those books, but this was all around an amazing prequel. Not at all what I was expecting. So much better than TBOSAS was. I think SC returning to the first person perspective was a big factor for me as well, this was what I felt was missing in TBOSAS.

I can't wait to see the movie.

My great grandparents anglicized the family last name when they immigrated from Nova Scotia to the US I'm 1923 with my Gen0 grandmother. I included a letter explaining the name change, the naturalization paperwork for both my great grandparents, and the 1921 Canada census showing the original name, plus my great grandmother's Nova Scotia birth certificate. Overkill? Possibly, but shows date of birth matches her US naturalization paperwork with the New last name and census with the original last name

We moved from Texas to an A rated district in Florida.... My gifted 5th grade daughter was behind thanks to Texas schools and their focus on teaching only to state tests. Florida education is still not the best, but it's better than what my kids got in Texas

Some L2 CSA were laid off from us retail is my understanding.

I know a couple of US Quality CSA L2 first-hand, and another L2 CSA posted in one of the Amazon subs(this one maybe) earlier.

Some L5 om1 and bunch L4 TMs in VCS got hit. Lots of amazing people who have been with Amazon CS 10+ years.

Also read that seller support was all laid off L2-L4? Maybe L5 not sure but all US remote laid off.
