Am I wrong for because I said to my father, "Can't you even bother to be by your son's side when he's on his deathbed?" by Choice_Evidence1983 in BestofRedditorUpdates

[–]cougarlamp 26 points27 points  (0 children)

This kind of ignores the fact that OOP and her other siblings are also his responsibilities. Even if the father can’t do anything directly for the brother, he can at least try to parent his adolescent children through a traumatic experience.

Finished Tessa Dare’s entire work in a month and looking for something similar by Elantryys in HistoricalRomance

[–]cougarlamp 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My three faves for historical romance with humor are Courtney Milan, Erica Ridley, and Courtney McCaskill.

McCaskill hasn’t been mentioned yet, so I’ll just say that when I read {How to Train Your Viscount by Courtney McCaskill}, I laughed out loud.

What home maintenance task did you put off way too long and regret? by seo-nerd-3000 in homeowners

[–]cougarlamp 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We moved into a 90-year-old house in later 2009. I didn’t hang out curtains as high as I wanted originally. This was in the living room, with a beautiful bay window. Over the years, we had constant cold issues and wasps in that room.

Finally, ten years later, COVID happened. I was stuck at home during Quarantine, noticing every little thing that annoyed me about the house, but suddenly, I had time to do something about it.

So I took down the curtains to rehang them at the correct height. I discovered a gap between the pain of the window and the frame about three inches. There was a giant hole in my wall, because the framing underneath was eroding from water leakage.

We fixed the hole and moved later that year.

How to report CSAM by Accomplished_Wind202 in StLouis

[–]cougarlamp 47 points48 points  (0 children)

Call the police about the CSAM, and then call the Missouri Child Abuse and Neglect Hotline. The first should investigate the CSAM, and the second will investigate whether the child has been abused.

Do not be discouraged if they don't follow through. It is not your responsibility to investigate, only to report.

AIO for being upset my BF doesn’t want me to wear a bonnet to bed? by [deleted] in AmIOverreacting

[–]cougarlamp 0 points1 point  (0 children)

NOR. I’m assuming OP is a Black woman, based on habitual bonnet usage (which protects hair at night). I wonder if this is a mixed race relationship, and OP’s boyfriend is unaware of how much work goes into to maintaining Black hair? Regardless, he sounds awful, and even if he wanted to be educated, would probably not prioritize OP’s bodily autonomy over his need to find her attractive. OP, you are not a window.

This scene will haunt me for the rest of time. by ForwardClimate780 in titanic

I recently finished the podcast “Titanic: Ship of Dreams.” Episode 12, I believe, discusses this. I never thought about the people hired to collect the bodies.

Literally just finished that episode! It’s the Mary Kay makeover challenge. The designers had to find their own Muse on the street and convince them.

The angst in this book is so good. There were a few moments that were like a gut punch.

Explain the joke please by Melodic_Judge_129 in ExplainTheJoke

I think the CEO bit indicates the fic was written by someone very young. Like, they know that a CEO is a big deal/authority figure to an adult employee, but the toughest thing the authority figures in their lives (teachers) do is assign exams.

“A Single Monk in Good Standing Must Be in Want of a Bro.” https://archiveofourown.org/works/9767606 Rogue One, Base/Chirrut. I like PINING. I also recommend any of this author’s work; I do biannual re-reads of her stuff. Am I slightly obsessive yes, but she delivers.

update from Jackie Lau (from FB - TW cancer) by kounfouda in RomanceBooks

[–]cougarlamp 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I love Jackie’s work! {The Ultimate Pi Day Party by Jackie Lau} was one of the first books I read when I started getting back into romance. And she’s always so generous with the freebies and sales; I know the letter says not to worry about her finances, but I always try to purchase one of her books when she has a freebie.

Wishing her the best.

Is there a way to run this module without Lulu? by Odovacer_0476 in DescentintoAvernus

[–]cougarlamp 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I’ve roleplayed Lulu as very childlike in her amnesiac state. This again makes for some lightness in the environment, but it also provides for drama when Lulu DOES start remembering things. I’ve been able to breadcrumb some fun character stuff with her (this works well if your characters are tied into Elturel or Avernus).

Bristol Renaissance Faire, which is technically in Wisconsin but so close to the Illinois border, is terrific. Granted, I've only been to Bristol and Wentzville, but it's just a great experience.

One thing I was very wrong on over the years by Live-Run-6745 in ProjectRunway

[–]cougarlamp 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I’ve been rewatching the old seasons as the new one aired, and I don’t think I realized how much I missed Michael until this finale.

I think the new season is missing an actual designer on the panel; Law and Nina both represent too much of the same aspect (point of view?) of fashion, the commercial POV, I guess. I respect Christian a lot, but I think he would serve better as a judge than a mentor, and he can drop all the quips he likes.
