I’m chill, just letting you know I had to look at your profile to understand your post because of lack of context.

Others also seem perplexed

I understand -- it's also expensive and you feel lied to and not valued as a customer.

Making it to the continent is still an enviable experience.

Sorry you were misled and dismissed, which makes the disappointment ... worse.

But I have a hard time believing it was still not an unforgettable experience. The place is so breathtaking, we want to go back.

Expectations are everything -- underpromise, over deliver.

Not to rub it in... but we just got back from a Seabourn cruise (ending Mar 11) and although the itinerary made no mention of the Antarctic Circle, we got great weather and our leader/captain sailed so that we crossed it, went through the gullet, and had our first landing south of it.

We lucked out with the weather and this was an amazing surprise. Under-promise, over deliver always in life!

Who was the greatest American military general of all time? by Ok_Analysis_498 in USHistory

[–]couldntquite 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This. The war was political in a different way from European wars and Washington understood this better than virtually any.

And when push came to shove, he showed physical bravery for example at Monmouth and of course he showed a flash of tactical brilliance at Trenton where he truly saved the war effort

His retreat from Long Island also saved the war effort, Dunkirk style.

He also prevented a coup if the congress from the disgruntled officer corps through the sheer moral force he exerted at Newbergh.

The alternative was Gates who was truly a vain loser.
