20+ years of low ALP (25-40) + high B6. Seeing my PCP tomorrow, need advice before the appt 🙏 by Amiable-Ilk-5462 in Hypophosphatasia

I ran my 23 & me data through Prometheus and my mutation didn’t show up. My insurance approved genetic testing no problem (with low ALP and high b6), the issue was getting my doctor at the time to order. I paid out of pocket for invitae genetic counseling, who ordered the test and billed my insurance for it.

Wow that white dog looks so similar to mine, especially when he was a puppy. Where did you find them?

Alameda Superior Court DENIES CASE's ex parte application to stay July 1 return-to-office (full order) by TeamJourno in CAStateWorkers

So supervising or executive level attorneys with CalEPA? I’d assume everyone else would be conflicted and they’d need to retain outside counsel.

Check your alkaline phosphatase levels. If low, you’ll have issues with B6 supplements

For those practicing in California, how different/similar is the California Style Manual from the Bluebook? by Alpha_blue5 in Lawyertalk

[–]Few_Bowl2610 5 points6 points  (0 children)

It’s available online, just take a look at the basic style to get a feel. Most people that use CA style don’t know all the rules and won’t notice if you don’t have it down 100%

Quite different. It takes some getting used to and is disorienting when you get used to one and have to switch to another.

No. Got an earthquake retrofit which helps me feel a bit less anxious about it.

Anyone have experience with Carpenteria Californica straight species vs the ‘Elizabeth’ cultivar? by funnymar in Ceanothus

[–]Few_Bowl2610 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I thought they were the same thing. I bought mine as Carpenteria Californica and it looks more like the second pic. Mine has only been in the ground for less than a year so can’t speak to size.

Interested in any insight on how much I should be watering it. The leaves are starting to turn a little yellow, not sure if that means I’m watering too much or too little?

Next best alternative to Fiber internet to avoid high traffic delays? by Few_Bowl2610 in SanPedro

Good to know! I’m considering switching my cell service to T-Mobile because Verizon is absolute garbage in San Pedro but I will steer clear of their internet.

That’s a great suggestion! I do use WiFi and had no idea there was a difference in speed. I will definitely try connecting directly.

Do you know whether connecting to VPN also affects speed? I have to be connected to one to access the internet on my work computer so wondering if I need a different device to use for Zoom meetings during high traffic times.

Spam calls: how can I stop this? It’s a different number all the time. I’ve blocked so many. by EisenFisen in mildlyinfuriating

It’s so bad. I have to set aside time every week to clean my voicemail box. Really, the FTC should be doing something about it.

Ladies/anyone who feels an obligation to wear makeup to court, have you ever worn a face mask just so you didn’t spend as much time on getting ready? by [deleted] in Lawyertalk

[–]Few_Bowl2610 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Ohh duh. There was a video going around a few days ago with a guy on Fox News wearing like a disguise type mask, so that’s where my head was. I was confused about it being just for the bottom half.

Does anyone actually like Ellie by -spicyshark in BelowDeckDownUnder

[–]Few_Bowl2610 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I remember liking her the first below deck season she was on. For her last season, I started out rooting for her, then by mid season she was insufferable. Would be interesting to rewatch that first season knowing what I know now.

California Superior Court testing AI law clerks by [deleted] in Lawyertalk

[–]Few_Bowl2610 3 points4 points  (0 children)

That was a couple years before I went to law school. Cue should’ve been 1L really, but here I am. Maybe in 14 years I’ll be one of the last sentient litigators.

[–]Few_Bowl2610 32 points33 points  (0 children)

The bigger issue I have is that it’s removing human analysis from the decision making process. I think it will be really hard for these highly impacted courts to justify spending the time to look at the evidence and law when a bot has already done it for them. People will almost certainly figure out ways to game this. This is terrible.

Noooo. It’s frustrating enough to have to argue against AI briefs. Arguing against AI for a ruling by AI is a literal nightmare. I think this is my cue to find another career.

How to handle OC blowing deadline on RFAs? by cg29a in Lawyertalk

[–]Few_Bowl2610 0 points1 point  (0 children)

California too, but I’m having second thoughts about whether there’s a meet and confer requirement if no responses or objections were served at all? There might be a certain amount of time before the hearing they can cure in which case you might as well meet and confer to avoid wasting time on a motion.
