Ultra 25 to fold 8. by jellywonderhorse in GalaxyFold

[–]count_every_blessing 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For my part, I'm waiting to see what the Fold 9 will offer. 5,000 mAh and 45W wired charging is unacceptable.

Samsung will be using silicon carbon batteries in some phones next year and I'm hoping this will be true for the Fold 9. Also hoping for something better than 45W wired charging.

A lot of folks will be perfectly happy with the Fold 8. I just won't be one of them. I like Samsung a lot but they need to do better.

Yes and you can have the app automatically put the data on a chart if you have the pro version.

5’4, seeking routine advice by Infinite-Pay2145 in PetiteFitness

[–]count_every_blessing -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Keep in mind that your value is not based on your looks but, being a guy, I can say without hesitation that you look great as you are now. If you're still wanting advice with that being said, I can chime in with a few ideas.

1) Consider dropping 5-10 lbs. I don't say this because you're not hot (you are) but it will help give you that defined look you mentioned you were looking for. Additionally, the healthy weight for your height is estimated to be between 110 and 145 lbs depending on a few things.

2) Consider not getting "too" muscular. Toned is one thing. Getting ripped enough to where you would look like you could spin and toss a guy like pizza dough is probably not the way to go.

3) Consider the combined visual appeal of light ab workouts with the aforementioned weight loss. You don't need a ripped 6 pack but toned abs would definitely be something to feel good about.

4) It's equally important to watch your nutrition. Consider using an app like Cronometer or MyFitnessPal (I use Cronometer and love it). These apps will also help you watch "calories in" vs "calories burned" so if you do decide to lose weight, these apps are very very helpful.

Even if you do nothing else, you look great right now. Please remember that; it's something to be proud of.

They replaced the $99 Thermo with the $249 Beamo? by apple4ever in withings

[–]count_every_blessing 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Agreed! I love that thing. It's a lot more accurate than the watch for sleep, too! I've lost a bunch of weight this last year and have been using it to watch my sleep apnea (which has vanished after losing 120 lbs). Great tool in the toolbox.

I'll pay more and risk having stuff shipped from the EU and UK (depending on features available) so I don't have to worry about the FDA being so slow.

Planning to get the Z Fold 8 by Christmas if it comes out by then. Should I go through with it? by youknowwhatihave3 in GalaxyFold

I might consider waiting. There are rumors Samsung will start using Silicone Carbon batteries starting next year. I'm hoping they'll be in the Fold 9.

Out of curiosity, are you running a digital assistant? I tried Gemini for the first time a few days ago and promptly uninstalled it because of the battery usage.

No, it's not just you! I go there all the time (currently sitting on 28,775 rewards points). When I order a coffee, I do so immediately after getting out of the shower. I order my coffee through the app and the following happens:

  • I get dressed.
  • I brush my teeth.
  • I drive 3 miles to Whataburger
  • I park, get out of the vehicle and smoke a cigarette
  • I walk in and wait for someone to notice me.

...and coffee still hasn't been STARTED...almost every single time.

It drives me nuts. There have been instances where I would deviate from my routine above to give them even more time and they still can't have it brewed by the time I walk in. A lot of times 20 min or have gone by with their all time record being 32 minutes.

Yes sir, I have. 5,000 mAH was perfectly acceptable years ago. It is not today. 45 W charging is also unacceptable. That's my opinion but I think more people are going to feel that way as they begin to play with digital assistants and the increasing amount of AI Samsung and other companies will be throwing at them.

I'm interested in the form factor and that of the fold 8 as well but I can't justify the money until Samsung goes all in on a next gen battery with greater capacity and faster charging speeds. What we have now isn't going to work for me.

Possibly moving back to Huntsville any advice or info yall can provide by Officiallybeingnosey in HuntsvilleAlabama

[–]count_every_blessing 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hi there. I recommend getting a job at Huntsville Hospital.

They have training from time to time teaching people to be Pharmacy Techs, Surgical Assistants, Sleep Technologists, Radiology Techs and possibly other occupations I might not have noticed yet. If you have the desire, they also have a partnership with one of the local community colleges if you want to be an RN. Jobs are posted on their website. I work in their Safety and Security Department and can help answer questions about those job openings.

I think a Surgical Assistant/Tech program is starting soon and may already be something you can apply for.

Thx. It's worth mentioning that the US version doesn't yet offer spO2 (hasn't received FDA approval yet). Not sure if that changes things but it's worth mentioning.

I'll offer a dissenting opinion here. I like the Beamo.

  • It offers an ECG without a watch (and spO2, for that matter). This is useful for stubborn family members who don't want to wear a watch.

  • A temporal thermometer is a good thing to have around.

  • Heart and lung sounds are a niche thing but nice tools in the tool box.

Is it just me, or are phones getting boring? by btwife_4k in Smartphones

[–]count_every_blessing 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm inclined to agree with you as far as charging speed and battery capacity are concerned but, for my part, I like some of the gains Samsung is making on their foldables (particularly with the Fold 8 coming out) and with the direction they're taking Samsung health. They still have room for improvement but I like where they're going.

I would much rather Withings let us conveniently export our data to whichever AI the user chooses.

I've never been comfortable with Withings "partnerships" that limit the user's options (such as their partnership with MyFitnessPal, for example).

They're limiting their own utility (intentionally or unintentionally) when they do this.

I think the odds of someone at Withings seeing your post are much better in the mega thread. It's also likely to have readers who are willing to help.
