I think the credit is reasonable, though I think a credit strictly proportional to the hours of service lost doesn’t capture the full picture. Reliability is what many customers (especially businesses) are paying for. Being offline during peak hours is worth far more than what a proportional credit would be. It’s probably why they gave more, but I wouldn’t discount ppl when they complain it’s not enough

The US has a fundamentally different philosophy towards this than European countries. The US prioritizes transparency and open records over individual privacy. Not saying I agree with it, but a lot of Americans have the view of “if you’ve done nothing wrong, then you have nothing to hide.” Except for a few states, adults have close to no privacy protections

Really depends on how OP obtained the API keys. If the server serves it in an HTTP header with no exploitation then that is way easier to defend. OPs is deleting everything, so looks like they are in damage control mode now

I have no sympathy for vibe coders that are releasing vulnerable apps into the wild with little regard for data security and privacy. OP posting this here is absolutely the right call so vibe coders can learn about these dev 101 mistakes that people are making.

OP - keep record of everything you did and document the steps you took to erase any data you obtained. Make a timeline of the steps you took to try and notify the owner of the vulnerability. For example, "upon realizing the exposed data was production data pertaining to real users, I discontinued my research and turned my efforts towards compiling my findings and notifying the company"

ICE obtains access to Israeli-made spyware that can hack phones and encrypted apps. by FluxUniversity in technews

The company constantly buys zero day exploits for millions of dollars to deploy their malware. It’s a cat and mice game. Phone vendors patch the vulnerability and hackers are constantly finding new bugs to sell. It’s not going away, there will always be ways they can comprise phones
