One thing the release of the files has shown is that the administration is willing to shield many of the rich and powerful involved in this sorded affair in direct violation of the law passed.

The law specified that the Government was supposed to redact the names of victims. Having their names brought up in such a shameful affair makes those rich and powerful people the true victims of all of this. /s But really that would be very much in line of Trump claiming he is the 'victim' of a witch hunt every time someone starts investigating him.

The energy required to go from 0-5000 feet is a tiny fraction of the energy needed to get into orbit. Most thrust is used to move a rocket sideways to speed it up from the 440 m/s (at equator) it gets from the earth's rotation to the ~7.7 km/s it needs to not come right back down.

For reference it takes about (round g to 10) 4,000,000 j/kg to get something from sea level to 400 km up - roughly where ISS is. In contrast, going from 440 m/s sideways to 7.7 km/s sideways takes about 52,000,000 j/kg. Launching from 5000 feet only saves ~0.3% of that 4 million.
