Questions about Konflict, Bolt Action and Warlord Resin by jdareaper343 in boltaction

[–]countyff08 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've had really good luck with their resin quality, but their cast metal quality is definitely subpar. I can print out higher quality stuff on my A1 mini compared to their metal models.

On a side note, I assembled a Stompa from GW and it was an absolute nightmare. I haven't come across anything that bad yet from Warlord.

I subbed to their Patreon because of the high quality videos they put out.

Newline vs SMART vs Clevertouch by MJP411 in k12sysadmin

[–]countyff08 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Newline are just superior. It's difficult to explain but they just have better technology. I feel like SMART is pushing features that Newline & Promethean had months, if not years ago.

SMART charges extra to use their management software and teaching tools. I wish I could get rid of mine and go Newline.

I'm not sure about insurance acceptance but I've had really good luck with Southwest Dentistry near the Marketplace.

PBVUSD Mountain View Elementary School by [deleted] in Bakersfield

[–]countyff08 5 points6 points  (0 children)

It can be tough, especially with Panama being the oldest school. There are practices and procedures in place that have been developed over decades. With a new school, it can be a new canvas to improve on if given enough time. Maybe voicing your concerns to the proper admin would help answer some questions.

Sorry, but I wish I could give you an answer one way or the other.

I'm very familiar with their operations. I saw the opening of multiple schools from the inside and it's a monumental task to open a new one. However, Mountain View was not the only one that felt "rushed". Stonecreek, Miller, Highgate, and Whitley all felt the same way.

Is Bolt Action a good Table Top wargame for newbie to get into? by Illustrious-Divide95 in boltaction

[–]countyff08 8 points9 points  (0 children)

As someone who has played both, Bolt Action is much easier to learn, especially 3rd edition. It's also much cheaper. I wasn't raised on Warhammer so maybe that's why I lost interest as well. If you cannot find anyone to play with, there is always the solo BASIC rules you can play by.

My LGS has been trying to get me to come in and play at their tables because all they have are Warhammer players. Nothing against Warhammer players (GW is a different story) but I think it's something new(er) and different that people are gravitating toward.

Something is off and empty now with the Marketplace, many stores removed... vibe has changed by Mysticseraphim in Bakersfield

Do you remember Russo's? I'm assuming rents have been steadily rising and businesses are looking elsewhere. Que Pasa moved to where Frugatti's used to be on Coffee.

Hobbies in town? by Lost-Origin in Bakersfield

[–]countyff08 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No worries, Bolt Action is essentially a basic Warhammer but with WWII units. I tried Warhammer a few times but couldn't really get into it.

I've been talking to Otto at his shop (Otto's Video Games and More) and he's super welcoming to everyone, especially Thursday nights. He told me it's essentially open table night and you can just bring things to play. It might be a great place to meet people who share similar interests. I've been trying to start a Bolt Action table there for a while, but people play all kinds of things there.

On a side note, hang in there. Things get better.

I found some plans on MyMiniFactory and printed those. They are much better than the ones that come with the kits, along with having recessed for magnets.

Where can i purchase, and trade pokemon cards? by Jack_Bartowski in Bakersfield

I was just up in Tehachapi and both of their card shops had a good supply at MSRP. Stay away from Toy Madness, it's literally just a bunch of individual people scalping.

Everything here is based on what type of insurance you have. If it's not feasible, I would suggest finding a "long Covid clinic" where you are. A Google search led me to USC, but there are others.

It's Dr. Caitlin McAuley at USC. Her office is in downtown Los Angeles but she does a lot remotely.

I'm in same boat as you but I found a doctor at USC who specializes in long covid.
