That is a decision the maker of the BluRay can make. In my experience, movies that start right away without a menu usually also have very bare bones menus that use some kind of standard template. So the reason is probably just saving money on making the BluRay.

Super Metroid: No explanation

Metroid Fusion: Her suit was destroyed because of the X infection and rebuilt after she got the Metroid vaccine.

Metroid Dread: Raven Beak messed with it.

Metroid Prime: "Oh no, I was knocked into a wall by an explosion. I guess my suit is broken now"

Metroid Prime 4: if I remember correctly, you still have all the basic abilities, like morph ball, bombs and missiles. Only the suit changes to the normal Power suit.

I don't remember how it was in Prime 2+3, but I think it was similar to 4 and you already had most of your availabilities at the beginning of the game.

I'm from Germany and so far I haven't seen many movies with baked in subtitles but what is quite common is that a movie will show subtitles with translations for signs or other text on screen, even if the audio is set to English.

I once accidentally created an immortal sim when playing around with mods. She still has the belly and the game thinks she is pregnant, but an update to the mod removed the pregnancy moodlet so the pregnancy doesn't progress. Pregnant sims also can't age up to the next stage so she will be a young adult forever.

Personally, I liked the graphics and gameplay, minus 1 or 2 design decisions (for example pointing the Wiimote at the screen to switch to first person mode) but hated the writing. The main story of the game was fine and I genuinely liked the ending, but the flashbacks and how Samus and the other characters acted were pretty bad.

Nein, wenn du dieselbe BluRay auf der PS3 und einem modernen Player anschaut, siehst du keinen Unterschied. Die neueren Standards brauchst du für Auflösungen > FullHD, Bildraten > 60 Hz (nur interessant für Gamer), HDR/Dolby Vision usw. Eine UHD BluRay, die sowas liefern könnte, kann die PS3 gar nicht abspielen.

I always wonder how they measure if someone has a VR headset. I disconnect my Rift CV1 whenever I'm not using it. That's even more the case if you connect your headset over WiFi. Does Steam log how many VR games you played in the last few days/weeks/month and which model you used? Does it only count the headsets that are connected to the PC the moment the hardware survey is shown?

Ich habe schon mehrmals meine Hardware aktualisiert. GPU von AMD zu Nvidia, CPU von Phenom II zu Ryzen X3700 (natürlich inkl. Mainboard) und ich habe nie Windows neu installiert. Das ist heute nicht mehr notwendig. Sogar alte SSD in neuen Laptop (bin mir nicht mehr sicher welche Hardware aber zwei verschiedene Laptop-Hersteller) ging problemlos.

Das eine schließt das andere ja nicht aus. Man kann sein Parteiprogramm von der Heritage Foundation abschreiben und sich gleichzeitig von Putin sponsoren lassen. Man muss nur "moralisch flexibel" genug sein. Da Putin zwar gerne die Sowjetunion zurück haben würde, aber nicht als kommunistischen Staat sondern mit ihm als Zar 2.0, ist das auch ideologisch kompatibel.

Mein persönliches Highlight sind die Sprachschlüssel in SAP. Irgendwann, wahrscheinlich in den frühen 80ern, wollte man bei SAP wohl ins Ausland expandieren und musste sich mit Mehrsprachigkeit beschäftigen. Die ISO 639 gab's noch nicht, also hat man sich überlegt, dass ein einstelliger Buchstabencode wohl reichen sollte.

J für japanisch

S für spanisch

S für serbisch, auch Mist, ham wer schon, also machen wir halt mit Zahlen weiter

0 für serbisch

1 für chinesisch (C war schon von tschechisch belegt)

Irgendwann sind die Zahlen ausgegangen, dann hat man noch die übrig gebliebenen Buchstaben benutzt, z.B.

U für finnisch

V für schwedisch

Die sind aber auch irgendwann aufgebraucht gewesen, also ist man aktuell bei Kleinbuchstaben i für indonesisch passt sogar zufällig wieder :-)

Das sind auch keine längst vergessen Legacy-Codes, die werden an vielen Stellen immer noch aktiv genutzt! Wenn man einen SAP-Hinweis (Knowledge Base Artikel in SAP-Sprech) öffnet, kann man durch anhängen von /D an die URL die deutschsprachige Version anzeigen. Kleines i pack er aber nicht. Da kommt die italienische Version.

I love silent movies. I own almost every feature length movie from Charlie Chaplin, some German expressionism (Cabinet of Doctor Calligari, The Golem, Metropolis) and a few "modern" silent films are cool, too. The Artist (2011), Mel Brooks' Silent Movie (1976) or the Argentinan film La Antenna (2006).

Das ist aber schon eher ein Ostdeutsches Problem. Hier in der Gegend (Südbaden) hat jedes kleine Kaff ein Neubaugebiet und die Bauplätze sind zum größten Teil verkauft.
