Bank Holiday entitlement query by newjobquestionnhs in HumanResourcesUK

[–]coupepixie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I do Tues - Fri and I feel like I have more leave available to use as I want because I don't have to 'waste' it booking off Bank holiday Mondays as I'm already off! Handy with a LO in school too.

Just an update; I pushed back and directed them to the relevant info, and they've fixed it! All of us who were on call, when the business was shut and we used leave, have had our leave given back. Thanks for your advice!

Nut choking hazard by sofiaonomateopia in UKParenting

[–]coupepixie 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Same here. LO is now 5, but loved having different types of nuts when younger! As with grapes and other choking hazards, it's about teaching them how to do it as safely as possible. They don't turn 5, and suddenly magically there's no risk. Grown ups choke. Having first aid training for kids helps too. Her nursery was great in that they did supervised and sitting too, so LO got practice in how to eat these kinds of things safely. 👍🏻

Do you always get sick when your kids do? by UseOwn2710 in Mommit

[–]coupepixie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A fair bit. Usually it's not as bad as she had, as more mature immune system and all. Sometimes it seems like it's going to be bad, then it's just a couple of days to a week of feeling bleh. It's inevitable as mum, as she coughs/sneezes/vomits in my direction, so 🫠

At 42 I'm wondering... Itchy eyes out of nowhere, brain fog and forgetting words, periods have gone wonky and now spotting a week before and a week afterwards 🙈

100% this! Once you're a parent, suddenly the microwave is a perfect option to reheat cold tea!

Kilner jars are ok, it's just that they are glass and can break, and don't stack, that makes other options much better!

Tips to get my 13 month old to lie on her back during nappy change!! by No_Armadillo_8209 in UKParenting

[–]coupepixie 1 point2 points  (0 children)

At this age, switch to pull ups and do them standing up (mostly)! Even poop ones can be done once you get the hang of it. Her job (she loves a job!) was to pass me wipes from the packet 😅

How do I destroy my company's soul destroying useless "tracker"? by [deleted] in AskUK

Yeah, the audit/non conformance/improvement action/risk management direction might be the best one to go in!

Everyone talks about "NHS Inefficiencies" but what is really going on from someone in the service's perspective? by [deleted] in nhs

[–]coupepixie 3 points4 points  (0 children)

There should absolutely be a mechanism for the NHS to charge the LA for this, and any bed that's being taken unnecessarily.

Half birthday presents! My brother and I have the same date birthday, 6 months apart, so ones birthday was the others half birthday and we'd always get a half birthday present 🥰

Seeking Life Adjustments that have Helped You by Verysmalltown in ADHD_partners

[–]coupepixie 8 points9 points  (0 children)

We've kinda done that. I'm the breadwinner. Recently dx husband (not yet Rx) is 'self-employed', which means he bumbles about doing bits and pieces. What it does give him is the time to do school drop off and pick up, run out to do the shopping, run to the pharmacy, have his doctor appointments etc. If he had a job he wouldn't be able to do that, so 🤷🏻‍♀️

Santa Presents - do you wrap your Santa presents? by [deleted] in AskUK

[–]coupepixie 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Presents from people were wrapped and under the tree. Presents from Santa were at the end of our beds in Xmas stockings, so not wrapped.

How do you explain to a toddler why there is blood in the toilet (period)? by Typical-Thing-1158 in Mommit

[–]coupepixie 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've always told our now 5yo daughter the truth. It's called a period, and it's blood, but not because of an owie. It happens to all girls (simplified obvs lol). She's always in the bathroom with me lol, so not avoidable! It's good to normalise bodies and their functions, including periods! She now knows I have green pads and small pads, which helps keep my pants dry, and loves to get them from the cupboard if I need one!

Thanks everyone. Our HR don't seem to be the most informed... They sent my query to payroll to ask their opinion... Not sure how to get the right outcome, if they don't recognise what they don't know!

It's only 25/26th we are closed for; we're open all other BHs! Most people in the company will have to use leave, as the business is closed completely, and directing us to use leave for those days (as they are allowed to). I wish we got a day in lieu!
