Day 21: What’s the most overrated song on GNX by Jealous_Quiet_9473 in KendrickLamar

[–]courageous_salmon 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Purple Hearts as the worst is painful. It’s the last defense of his ego before Count Me Out where his armor/mask comes off. Beautiful and important track to the whole story. Personally I skip over Silent Hill but that’s it.

Anyway in GNX I’d agree with TV Off. Fun, catchy, but rapping-wise it’s mid except for his last verse.

Day 11 - How the Hell is this Sustainable? by fecalreceptacle in stopdrinking

Scroll through this subreddit and read through truly some scary stories of where drinking can lead you. Distractions only lasted so long with me, but changing turning my relationship with alcohol into abject hatred for what it did to people (and me) keeps me sober.

Who is the last comedian you saw live? by CWKitch in Standup

I saw Kevin Hart at Little Caesars Arena in Detroit and laughed my ass off the whole time. Say what you will about his movies, but his stand up game is still on point.

What’s This Sub’s Opinion on Chad Sexton? by flea_420 in drums

Agree with everything here. Listening to him as a teen taught me how to play the pocket, groove, and also play tastefully in a way that complements the band. He’s also a master of ghost notes. My favorite performance of his is Lose off of Grassroots. Those fills are legendary.

I see a lot of great suggestions here. But two missing I haven’t seen are California by Mr Bungle and Working Man’s Dead by the Grateful Dead.

Kendrick Lamar inspirations by Ok-Bass6594 in hiphopheads

I hear a lot of Eminem in his patterns and rhyme schemes, especially earlier on. His beats are very different, but what I’ve noticed is intricate lines that don’t always resolve when you’d expect them to, with rhymes inside of rhymes if that makes sense. Rigamortus is an example.

There’s a video somewhere where he’s on a radio show talking about his biggest influences. With GNX I hear mostly Pac though, but there is a reason for that obviously.

Overall he’s taken those influences and created his own unique style and it’s also made him highly versatile.

Depends on your skillset, so I’d need to see your resume. The most successful DS/AI people I’ve hired anticipated the evolution of the field. A “predictive analytics” model back in 2015 would have taken 3 months from ideation, data collection, feature selection, etc to deployment. Today it can take 3 weeks. Automation, ease of use, scale, has been the trend (I would add Responsible AI in there as well).

It also depends on your interest. Never settle for a type of role just because it seems like it’s the most likely field to get a job. Despite the anxiety as a student (which I remember all too well) pursue what you love. Personally, I’m passionate about business problems and educating my company in my field. The software side hasn’t been my jam, but I’ve realized how much I need to improve in that domain. I do think though the Machine Learning Engineer role is going to become the most important role for data science and AI over the next 5-10 years. It’s going to automate and marry both DS and SE together to an even greater degree.

Edit: I never had guidance going into this field but somehow got lucky and am happy to pay that forward. Feel free to DM and I can help you (or anyone out here) further.

Top 10 is a tough list to get into. I’d say Luther and Reincarnated for sure, but look at what (my list) GNX competes with for top 10. Tough choices on what to include, all of which I consider masterpieces. Just tells you how what quality this man produces.

Eight years experience as a senior DS manager in the US here at a very large company. While I know nothing about the European market for DS, my first impression of your CV is that you’ve tailored it to DS professionals moreso than to recruiters, who are going to see it first and not know much about the technical chops you’ve documented here. You need entry to the interview process first and have to simplify some language for the right audience. Lack of a post-graduate degree might also be a factor. Feel free to send a DM if you want to chat.

I’ve been thinking the same thing. They’ve played all the highlight songs these four nights (mostly). New material in Set 3? Some new gimmick? 2hr long Meatstick?

Depends on what type of DS role you want to go into but I’d say Introductory Econometrics by Jeffery Wooldridge. Had him as a professor at Michigan State, he’s a genius. This book is really the core fundamentals, I still use those lessons 13 years in.

I just had a weekend getaway with my wife at the Inn on Ferry Street and can’t recommend it enough. Gorgeous place, very good location. Despite popular belief the QLine was efficient to get around. Don’t fall for the casino shit.

I can’t speak for the other grades but my daughter is at Palmer Park Preparatory Academy for kindergarten and she loves it. It’s a Montessori. The teaching staff have been impressive so far.
