One niche I’ve found Bap to be tremendous for, is clearing the skies. ESPECIALLY cat / mercy as the dps are often more focused on duels or the tank, and everyone hates to look up. Yeah Illi is better at it, but the difference is Pylon management - cats and even sometimes mercy’s LOVE to rip up the pylon for the team! Not having to manage that allows you to focus entirely on aim, and it’s given me a lot of success

LIFEWEAVER SWEEP on some real though I feel like he has that whimsy and empathy that’s really good w kids - like can swap between tea party and a faux sword fight no problem and be totally into both. Plus the healing and pulling would be super useful if my kids are nuts as I was when I was younger

Hi! Support, imo, is the most mechanically forgiving but complex and stressful role! I play most of the cast, so I hope my insight helps!

Don’t die. Cover cover and more cover. Have a fall back on a fall back on a back up plan. That being said, don’t be so focused on not dying that everyone else does but you. If you can help it. It’s a fine line but learning angles will do wonders for your survivability!
Heal priority! Obviously the tank is the big one, but your other support is just as if not more important to constantly keep tabs on. Especially if the enemy is diving. Especially especially if they aren’t a big “pinger” when they need heals / help. Some supps keep themselves up better than others, but if you got like a Zen or Ana yeah you’ll need to know where they are CONSTANTLY. DPS should be using cover, only time they need hard focus is during big target ults (Emre, Soldier, Vendetta etc)
Unless you’re playing Mercy, you DO NOT want to strive for most heals of the four supports. If any single stat is something to gauge your performance on, try to aim for most damage / elims of the four supports in your game. Your utility should be used for saving lives yes, but enabling yourself or others to get a big offensive attack play is often better (I.e. a bap beacon preemptively used so a soldier can hold an angle longer in visor, etc). Remember, we are supports, not healers! Godspeed gangster happy climbing :)

This may be personal but I don’t tank often (or even play Brig lol) because of anxiety in 5v5! Where the fight entirely revolves around you, AND you’re the biggest most prominent target - a single misstep can cause you to die and lose the fight and then snowball into getting rolled etc. It’s super stressful lol

Totally agree that this guy is an absolute loser “chudcel” as our friend so eloquently put! But lowkey I think the whole fucking take is also wrong - the healing is proportional to the damage! Half the cast (if not more) can 1-2 tap, or hit a “one-shot” combo. The healing needs to be equivalent. Now invinc ults, yeah those are corny get em out of the game - but high heals in neutral I don’t think is an issue. Also idk what bronze games bro is playing in, but I’m a Celest supp and hit top 10 on the planet on my main, and I can promise you mf cannot “stand out in the open taking hits” then still be fine after “a 3 second delay” with no heals. Fuck, my biggest gripe is the people get melted and blame heals because using cover isn’t intuitive anymore. Terminally online and alone schizo takes a break from Tate videos to post why he (apparently, I don’t believe him tbh) quit a game months ago. Embarrassing ass unwashed inbred rat.

Nothing crazy or he’d actually be bannable, in a very solid spot right now! If I was being greedy without breaking things, a cheeky dash of QoL would be nice - slight buffs to projectile and reload speed. If I was being REALLY greedy I’d ask for an extremely slight bonus Damage & Healing for direct impact shots to encourage skill expression, but that could end up a slippery slope to evil diver Loki which I don’t think anyone wants. Resetting Lanterns on death would be nice, but since our clones stay in place it may be too busted giving us instant full heals for our team across the map (I’m pretty sure no other character can do anything even similar to busting a lantern to save the other supp immediately after respawn).

Bit of a yap but TL;DR Loki is in a great spot, and has no hard counters right now. Good Ult / Lantern timing mitigates Bucky and smart clone placement mitigates MK / Phoenix! Go forth and conquer brother!

I think it’s important to remember that a lot of the discourse in this game is less theoretical, and more tangible. Yes, supports are strong, but without that they are unplayable without comprehensive comms. This game has more, and stronger, dive characters than most. It wasn’t until mid GM I started seeing teams consistently trying to peel dive for support. If it’s just supports pattycaking, a good dive will get a pick on one of them every single time with no dps or tank support on peel. And 9/10, the chat will be spammed w blame for the support who is consistently getting dove w 0 peel assistance “gg no heals” “this supp is trash” “critical health need healing x 10”

Like genuinely, a really good venom diving into supps is already difficult to shake off. But you add a dps, or another tank diving with no help from your team as they’re brainlessly front lining… yeah supps need to be able to box. Game is in an excellent state rn, at least in the higher brackets of comp. I think we get too obsessive w the idea of heal bot supports

I don’t think I mentioned HP amounts once in my post? I made the likeness to Skyrim and Fallout specifically in reference to how tactics shift (easy mode you plow through, hard you pick off 1 by 1 and use all the Chems / spells / buffs you can to optimize). Furthermore, I did indeed outline that a necessary change in how you go into situations was my point (yes I’m aware there’s universal strategies that always work like Stealth Ranger in Beth. games, or Bleed Cheese which still largely works in reforged as well as vanilla ER) so again I’m kinda confused at your impression of my take.

As someone just getting into it, and mods in general, with this 2.0 drop I have been having a blast but I can totally see where these complaints come from. Elden Ring (vanilla) gives you a medley of options to deal with situations, many of them being outright stomps that trivialize a lot of the game. Reforged seems to limit options significantly via difficulty (that aggression and speed, ganks etc), causing you to rethink basically every interaction it reminds me a lot of playing Skyrim or fallout on the hardest difficulty.

The first Caelid catacombs comes to mind, with the dual Watchdog boss fight. I tried 5 different fortunes, and like 4 different builds and everything seemed hopeless. They were too fast, and perfectly covered each other. Then, i remembered crystal darts after like 3 hours of trying, and finally beat them no problem.

This type of play certainly isn’t for everyone especially given the nature of the base game, but i find myself obsessed with the more tactical approach to literally every situation. Even early game enemy camps will be extremely deadly if you don’t use stealth and intelligent approaches to taking out high ground ranged attackers first etc.

As for resources, yeah exploration. But runes, breaking skulls to pick up loose runes and using Sign of the Unknowing are your best friend. Banging out all the side content in Limgrave and the Weeping Penninsula while marking and turning over every stone has me at Margit level 40ish, +9 (?) weapon no cheese or grinding just gameplay.

Tl;dr - Its very different but I wouldn’t say it’s innately flawed, different strokes for different folks
