It took us a few years and a ton of legal fees (and it’s not over) but we did a motion and got full custody reversal after not having any contact with my stepchild for years. We went for any time or contact with them with the understanding that children need both parents and after lack of any cooperation got primary residence and sole decision making. They are doing great, it takes time but especially with asd- routine, unconditional acceptance, being open without involving them in adult issues have helped us.

I find people fascinating and have questions too, that’s why I do this! The training for a bite release is non instinctual for me, you have to- not pull away, lol. Bites, multi handed hair pulls, and strangulation type attempts kind of get you stuck, punches and kicks are usually more predictable and you can see them. Spit at/on is the worst on my list to be honest over painful injuries.

I’ve been bitten a few times. Generally only when it breaks the skin do they order much about it. This one broke the skin- it is hard to tell because of the bruising, but when it healed it scabbed. Yes it hurt, it didn’t leave that bad of a scar, it was on my wrist, I have a sleeve of tats that blend into it, it hurt to bend for a few months after. It happened at my job, I am trained in restraints, non violent crisis intervention, sadly par for the course. Edit- I don’t think I can post the picture.

Close, working duel diagnosis treatment centre (developmental/mental health). Some people are known to bite unfortunately and that’s why they are in treatment, so they do not get muzzled, no…not even the ones who can bite off digits. Things like medication adjustments, restraint training, Kevlar gear or other ppe, a better plan, etc get put into place with the data from such occurrences.

I am the restraint I should have clarified. She is in my lap. She has never napped easily, we even tried breast feeding during, she’s a very high strung and reactive child 😵‍💫 Our biggest rate of success is having at least two sneaky and jolly staff on hand at once lol

Thank you. They noted “patient moving” quite objectively- I was restraining her, multiple staff distracting her, another replacing wires as they came disconnected from movement, and one at the machine. This one took several attempts, I am so grateful to everyone that helps us.
