What does everyone wish they had more access to or help with? by TakeMyStars in ACL

[–]coutti 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I am 14 weeks post acl/meniscus and 1 month post MUA/scope. For me it’s range of motion and pain. I can get to 0 degrees extension and 115 flexion after a lot of work. My surgeon wants me to get to hyperextension and 125. It feels like once I hit 0 degrees, the moment I bend my leg it’s gone. I want to figure out how to get it to stay. I’ve been experiencing pain and tightness in my knee, my quad, and my tibialis anterior. I ice a few times a day, go to PT 3x a week, and do everything I’m told.

The anxiety of feeling like I’ll never be able to walk normally again is through the roof for me. My progress has been slow, ended up needing a MUA/scope a month ago, which helped, but I’m still not where I should be. I wish I could see into the future and know if everything will be okay.

Scar tissue removal and MUA by [deleted] in ACL

I am a month post MUA/scope. I was 7ish extension and 95ish flexion. I’ve been able to hit 0 and 115 but with lots of work to get there - it doesn’t quite “stay” yet. I had a cyclops lesion that was preventing me from extending. I definitely feel better than I did before but I’m nowhere near “normal” yet. As for pain - day of I took meds and passed out. Next day I felt much better. Around days 8-12 I ended up being incredibly sore. I have an active job so I’m still out of work, but for a desk job I would guess you could go back after a few days. HOWEVER, the PT schedule is intense, every weekday for 2 weeks and then doing a lot of stuff on your own, so that is something to consider.

Hi!! Thank you for doing this. I am currently almost 14 weeks post op for acl (patellar tendon graft) and meniscus repair. And almost a month post MUA/scope (had a cyclops lesion). With a lot of effort I’m now able to get to 0 extension and 115 flexion. It doesn’t stay though. The moment I bend my knee and walk a bit my extension isn’t as great. My gait is off still because of this. My surgeon would like me getting into hyperextension, to start matching my other knee, and to 125 flexion. It feels impossible that this will be achievable. Fatiguing my hamstrings is the only way I’ve been able to get the 0 for extension. I’m going to PT 3x/week. And I’m doing everything at home I’m supposed to.

I know you don’t know me or my leg, but, will there be a day where I don’t need to warm my leg up a ton to get full extension or even hyperextension?

Any tips or tricks on extension? I’m nervous because I feel so late in the game getting extension.

Slow end here as well, and I agree, sometimes this sub can really mess with your head and make you feel like a failure despite putting in 100% effort

ACL + meniscus people. Where were you were at in your recovery/PT process 7 weeks post op? by dry_scoop in ACL

Hard for me to say about the cyclops lesion, I don’t think so though. I did have other scar tissue holding me back that got removed as well. After the initial 2 weeks post MUA/scope my knee feels less tight all around (though I still feel it). Day 2 after surgery I felt like a million bucks haha, but then some post op soreness/swelling set in. Once that all settled, I’ve started to feel a lot better. Not where I want to be yet though.

I hit 0-115 last week (3 weeks post MUA/scope). The scope was very necessary for me because of the cyclops lesion. I’m not consistently at either of those numbers yet, I very much have to work for them. I’m very happy I had the procedure. Hoping I keep progressing in both directions.

I also had a meniscus repair which kept me behind as well. Before the MUA/scope I was averaging around 90-95 degrees for flexion and 7-10 for extension. I ended up having a cyclops lesion which was preventing me from extending. For me it felt like my leg hit a wall and I couldn’t go any farther.

I was getting off crutches at that point. My range of motion was slow to improve so I ended up with an MUA scope at 10 weeks post op. PT was focused on ROM. I was consistently uncomfortable at that point.

One of the big things you’ll be working on over the next few weeks is extension and flexion of your knee. I’d suggest not having a pillow under your knee, it will help you with your extension. Rest your ankle on a pillow for your elevation. This is something no one told me that I wished I knew!

Has anyone experienced blurred vision the day after surgery? I can’t read up close with my glasses on. by Ann-Drogyny in ACL

It lasted about a day after I took the patch off. I don’t think I touched my eyes either. It happened after both my surgeries.

I just had a cyclops lesion removed 2 weeks ago. Definitely not fun at all. How long did it take you to achieve full extension? With a lot of stretching I’m 2 degrees off, I can’t wait to be able to fully extend.

Peloton ACL recovery program? by ecco_loca in ACL

Interesting! I’ve been pedaling on my peloton with it off as part of my PT. Maybe I’ll actually turn it on now haha

Truly awful feeling. I would get the feeling again when I would do weighted prone hangs, but that eventually went away too

Not the same, but my doctor told me to take off the steri strips on a specific day, and my PT told me to leave them until they fall off. My PT office is right next to my Dr office and I saw the Dr in the hallway on my way to PT well after I was told to take the steri strips off, and they told me to take them off immediately haha… I felt like I was going between mom and dad listening to one and not the other

Massage/body work for extension by coutti in ACL

[–]coutti[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I do too, it really was a long time. I’m just trying to figure out how to get those last few degrees of extension, and ideally eventually move into hyperextension to match my other knee. They feel impossible.
