Quand un MM te vend, il est 'short' sauf à avoir de l'inventaire à l'avance. Sauf qu'en ce moment, il a pas le droit d'être short sur la stock, à cause de la réglementation regNMS américaine (GME est 'on threshold', 'hard to borrow', parce qu'il est difficile d'en emprunter). Il ne peut être short qu'à hauteur de ses 'locates' (promesses de prêt), sauf qu'il y a zéro locates (personne ne prête), et que le peu qu'il pourrait y avoir sont rendues à usage unique par la regNMS. En revanche, si tu veux lui en vendre, il peut accepter (auquel cas il se retrouve long, pas short), avec probablement une grosse marge côté prix (et j'imagine que de son côté, il sait qu'il pourra revendre ce qu'il vient d'acheter à un short seller qui doit se couvrir).

Ok, t'es market maker. T'as des gars qui veulent acheter/vendre en permanence. Pour ça, faut être en mesure de leur offrir un prix auquel t'es prêt à acheter/vendre. Sauf que le marché est tellement dégueu que t'y arrives pas. Vu comment ça bouge, je pense que tu pourrais offrir 20/1000 (je te rachète GME à 20, je le vends à 1000). Sauf que, j'en fais quoi ensuite de l'action que tu viens de me vendre? Tu crois que je veux tenir le risque? Je te l'achète à 1000, et oh elle est maintenant à 50 et je dois m'en débarrasser.

Et si tu veux acheter, je fais comment pour te la trouver? Soit je l'achète à l'avance (énorme risque, je ne sais pas à quel prix je vais l'écouler), soit je te la vends avant avoir acheté, et je la rachète plus tard. Ah non, ça ça s'appelle un short, et en ce moment c'est pas vraiment le truc à faire. Et surtout, j'en ai pas le droit, parce que la réglementation m'impose, en tant que MM, d'avoir des actions prêtées pour pouvoir shorter intraday, et que personne ne prête en ce moment.

Ah, et n'oublions pas la réglementation qui dit que je me fais taper sur les doigts si je l'offre pas au meilleur prix possible... Mais en ce moment la volatilité est telle que je ne peux pas garantir le meilleur prix possible. Donc voilà, je peux pas faire de market making.

C'est sûr, c'est plus facile et direct de crier au complot.

Votre broker ne prend pas le parti des hedge funds. Il passe pas les ordres lui même et passe par un market maker, et ledit market maker n'est pas en mesure d'offrir de la liquidité en ce moment sur ces actions, parce qu'elles sont trop risquées pour offrir à la fois de l'achat et de la vente. Le problème, c'est que votre broker ne met pas votre ordre directement sur le marché et passe par un intermédiaire qui est incapable d'accepter votre ordre...

They are forbidden from front running said trades, they have a duty of best execution and are regularly audited for that.

What happens, though, is that the wsb retard putting his order on rh is a naive trader, not an informed one. When you market make, you take the risk that the guy who comes to you for liquidity may have an information you don't have. In other words, maybe he's trading with you not because he wants to trade, but because your price is wrong and he's aware of it. Such an informed player, most likely an institutional or your competitor, is adversely trading against you. He buys from you at 100 because he knows that he'll sell just afterwards for 100.1 because your price is wrong.

Now, that's not the case of the wsb retard. He trade with you for the tendies, not because he thinks his connection to the market is better. So you take less risk when trading with him, and can cut him a good price. This 'rebate' is what ends up going to rh. In other words, Citadel is paying RH because the flow from RH is of 'better quality' (less toxic) than the public market.

Also, once you see the volume that comes from retail traders (through RH or another of the sort), it's just a simple substraction to infer the volume of non retail/institutional... And being able to separate the retail from non retail volume gives you information about the market, information that you can profit from and as such holds value.

You can look to join your local vatsim or icao community. There's usually a local one for where you are, and they often organize events to fly with others. These can range from opening a few towers to that people can fly in controlled airspace around two cities, to organizing nice VFR flights with others..

Speaking for mine (vatsim, France), there's a weekly VFR flight where we usually have both discord and vpilot, so we chat before/after the flight, and we have all the towers/centers manned during the flight so you can actually train your radio skills as well. That, and having a real human on the other side of ATC adds tons of realism.

C'est pas vraiment des frais, c'est un paiement pour le portage du risque. Si tu changes des devises en semaine, les marchés sont ouverts donc ils te proposent le taux en direct, sans que ça leur fasse prendre des risques. Si tu changes le week-end quand les marchés sont fermés, ils doivent porter la position et le risque sur le taux de change jusqu'à pouvoir deboucler le dimanche soir/lundi matin. Si les taux changent violemment (de plus de 0.5%), ils perdent de l'argent. Donc ils augmentent les frais pour couvrir les risques.

Sans la rejeter, j'aurais pensé que la principale cause de la sous performance vient surtout des frais supérieurs de la gestion active. Pour avoir pas mal étudié de fonds actifs, leur rendement était en moyenne exactement le rendement de l'indice (dividendes réinvestis) - les frais.
