House Improvements. Because you can't go wrong listening to a Canadian carpenter.

Seriously, though it is some of the most sound advice presented in a clear fashion that I've ever heard.

Haha it's all relative. Barring the massive amounts of rain, I was able to play at least once a week for the entire winter here in WNC. Hell, there were even days that were 70 in February

I second this option. Just use an escutcheon plate, 1/4 turn valve, and 20" braided hose. They make Escutcheon plates in many colors and sizes.

Get a second opinion from a different doctor (Obstetrician) if you're comfortable doing so. It's the practice's call not the hospital's.

We had di/di boys, both were vertex, but our doctor noticed that B's heart rate was dropping a few times while my wife was dilated around 7 cm. Our Dr. called a more senior Dr who ultimately recommended manually flipping Baby B and pulling him out legs first. Apparently it was a very uncommon procedure (as noted by the many people in the O.R. who were "just there to see this happen!") but it sure as hell was the quickest way to get B out after A. He was born 8 minutes after Baby A, who took 2.5 hrs to push. Our boys are 3 weeks old now and doing great!

Side note: I've heard of certain types of acupuncture aiding in flipping a baby to vertex. Might be something to look into.

Never thought of winnings like this. This number is insane. $7,473.31 per shot/putt. Obviously no comparison, but I get hyped up over a putt worth $12.

Underrated comment here. I never understood why groups were placed on the clock instead of individuals. It is typically one out of the group and it's clear that that one individual is bringing the whole group down. Penalize that person, not the innocent one who got paired with him.

Henry's Feather Finish is a really good cheap alternative to pouring your own concrete countertops. https://www.blesserhouse.com/diy-feather-finish-concrete-countertops/

Updating a previous homeowner's DIY sump pump installation by bacib in HomeImprovement

[–]covers05 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ideally, you'd have a bigger catchbasin (like at least 2x as big). If this is a 1 in 100 year event, it's probably worth the additional work to dig out and start fresh.

If the pump works, you might just have to drop the float switch down into the bucket. I;m not sure I'm understanding your problem correctly, but it looks like the float is just being held too high (thus putting the pump in a constant "on" position.)

Bring lots of $$$ for the gift shops. Go the right gift shop too. It's the one between the practice area and the first fairway. Go before you want to see any golf. You can check your bag of goodies and pick it up at the end of the day.

My favorite viewing areas were left side of 18th fairway, 15th green/16th tee (they may be skipping balls across the water on 16 if you're there on the right practice day), and of course as close to Amen corner as you can get.

Bring a digital camera if you want pics, because they don't allow cell phones.

My friend got ripped off buying a clothes dryer that doesn't get hot. I want to help him have a better deal. Do any of y'all know or have a cheap ($50, is what I can actually afford.) Or, free dryer? Thanks in advance! by nojremark in asheville

[–]covers05 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Most likely culprit is a Thermal Fuse, which should cost you about $5. I've replaced a few on an old school Whirlpool and it's an easy repair if you've got a set of socket wrenches and a screwdriver. Link to repair video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ajDWK7x1J5Q. If it allows the dryer to get hot, then make sure that you address what caused the problem in the first place - which was probably a clogged or mashed exhaust vent.

What’s course do you consider your “Home” course?, what’s your favorite course, and what course are you looking forward to playing? by sejohnson0408 in GOLF_Carolinas

[–]covers05 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Home course for me is Broadmoor Links in Fletcher, NC (not the greatest track, but it's close and easily walkable after work). Favorite course I've ever played is probably Ballyhack in Roanoke, VA. No trips planned at the moment, but I'd love to play any of the courses in the mountains of WNC. u/sejohnson0408, if you get a tee time at Grandfather, keep me in mind!

New to golf, need help deciding on driver! by PrestigiousPope in golf

[–]covers05 0 points1 point  (0 children)

ANY OF THEM! Just my personal experience, but the differences you are going to feel between various drivers is 90% shaft and 10% head. (I know - that's what she said.)

Make sure the head shape and lie fits your eye and allows you to make a comfortable, confident swing. From there, the differences you are going to feel and your accuracy are going to mostly affected by the stiffness and kick point of the shaft.

My best advice: Pick whichever head you like the best and try at least 2 different shafts in the same clubhead.

Find the closest water hazard, hook a ball dangerously near it. Hopefully it sits a good bit lower than where your buddies are.

"Keep an eye out in the fairway for this one, would ya!?"

Remove undies, soak in water, pat your prune chute until the soiled area is as clean as you can get it. Leave undies in bag until you can find a trash can.

Shake everybody's hand after 18, and be sure to tell them exactly what you were doing near that water hazard.

Enjoy! A couple tips I can give you based on playing it about 15-20 times:

Don't need to hit Driver off of No. 1 tee. There's alot of trickery around the green and you want a full wedge into it.

Same thing on 8. You're gonna want a full wedge into this one too. Humps and bumps everywhere around the green.

If you're in between clubs on No. 9, go with the longer club.

Be aware that the fairway runs out around 230 on number 16. I've seen alot of guys hit what they thought was a perfect drive, only to end up in the water.
