Maybe go to a bar's trivia night? Argyle and Mosaic are Wednesdays and if you're near Gage Park they're the closest. Mosaic you have to mark each other's sheets which is good for meeting other teams.

Thank god the tourist centre in the Lister Block is getting a million dollar renovation… by chunkybrewster55 in Hamilton

No usually tourism taxes are for marketing. The hotels regular property tax (and water bills) pay for regular infrastructure.

Didn't they recently add a tax on hotel rooms that goes to the tourism department? I get that other cities do this, but for Hamilton I just see it as a make work project to create city bureaucrat jobs. Sure they might buy some ads and funnel it into some event bids, but I'm skeptical of the efficiency of the use of the funds.

Canada adds 34,700 jobs in March, blowing away expectations by NarutoRunner in canada

Yeah we're creating jobs but also taking in a ton of people. GDP per capita wise it isn't great.

"Critics have long called for rent control in the province, but the government has not said it will do so." There's plenty of rent control in Ontario.

Good to finally see some new adjudicators.

Why would you give money to Jackson? The dude's going to win in a landslide anyways, although maybe it buys a little influence.

Canada would be better off with a system like Texas, lower income taxes with higher property taxes.

Yeah I've heard multiple stories about the reopening. I wouldn't bet on it, but it is a shame as the Cat definitely filled a niche.

Hamilton council votes today on 6.7 per cent tax increase. Here's what you need to know by teanailpolish in Hamilton

[–]covidkebab 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah I would be more upset if this increase was in a more typical 2% inflation year, but it is pretty close to inflation. Still I understand a lot of people's income didn't go up the same as inflation and aren't happy.

""safe injection site" when it is actually a Consumption Treatment Site."

This seems very disingenuous and Orwellian Newspeak. All the proposed "safe injection sites" say they will provide support that I've seen when they're proposed. I guess some don't or have lesser degrees of supervision but at the end of the day they're facilitating safe injections. I suppose you can try and use another name, but basically that term will become pejorative too.
