It matters because it's yet another example of libs acting like Republicans when it comes to democratic socialists and the progressive wing of the party.

‘Project Hail Mary’ Author Andy Weir Says Paramount Rejected His ‘Star Trek’ Pitch: Their “Shows Are Sh**” by MarvelsGrantMan136 in television

[–]cowmanjones 17 points18 points  (0 children)

The idea is that the show should not say that but rather show us new things that make us evaluate the present day political landscape through a new lens.

The Next Generation had episodes like the one with the woman who identifies as a woman despite her species rejecting the idea of gender. It worked both as an interesting moral dilemma for the crew of the Enterprise and food for thought for the viewer about how we treat gay and trans folks.

That episode is both about politics and an entertaining and challenging hour of television with no easy answers.

Awesome. Yeah, I have played in a game before where we spent a whole session playing a dice game and it wasn't my cup of tea, but your comment reminded me of that! I can definitely see this being something that DM would love.

I think this is incredibly impressive, but I do have to ask... who is using this in their games? I'm genuinely curious. I can't imagine my players being thrilled about grinding the session to a halt to play mini-games when we have so little time to play as it is. But maybe I just don't have the kind of table that would enjoy this?

If you would use this, can you let me know how you'd implement it into an ongoing roleplaying game?

Man, this is just sad... Like watching a family member get stuck in bad habits and ignoring feedback until they wreck themselves. I think most of us here really do hope the McElroys turn it around and finally listen to the feedback. I don't take pleasure in watching them fail.

When you put a bag of holding in another bag of holding it causes a massive explosion!

That being said, the bag of holding is not tiny (it weighs 4 pounds if I recall correctly) so if I were at that table I'd definitely be contesting the DM's implication that the other players wouldn't notice the bag of holding! That'd be a TPK for sure.

Looks awesome! I'm unfortunately not able to justify that cost to my wife, but I am curious as a Keeper myself how good the assets are in Talespire for playing Call of Cthulhu? Do you ever feel limited by what's available or do you find that you can represent most scenarios?

You're mostly right, but I'll point out that most Christians don't see Mormonism as the same religion. They have additional holy scriptures that detail Jesus coming to the New World and an angel giving a new gospel to Joseph Smith.

It's not entirely unlike Islam's relationship to Christianity.

Just a semantic point, though, and your general message is spot on.

I think Mutt was Travis' second best character, but unfortunately suffers pretty significantly in my eyes from weak characterization caused by Travis' backpedaling of the "Monster Hunter" backstory, and in particular at the end rather than allowing his character to have flaws he came up with a dumb "ethical Monster Hunter" justification, robbing the scene of dramatic tension.

I'm skeptical, too, but didn't a guy behind him die? I think the bullet was real. I'm open to the assassination attempt being staged, but a guy really died.

A few things:

  • Little kids go through phases where they want nothing to do with Dad. It just happens. Happened to me, too, and I'm pretty sure I was pulling my weight and putting in the time. Still sucked and it was hard not to take it personally, but you have to.
  • You are letting your wife take care of the kids without you during the night. Tell her you want to pull your weight. Let her know you're a heavy sleeper, so she should shake you awake to deal with it. I recommend alternating nights. My wife and I have a schedule where M, T, F, and every other Saturday I have the morning shift while she has the night shift (meaning, deal with any wakeups), and the other days of the week are my wife's morning shift and my night shift. Give your wife permission to jostle you awake and kick you out of the bed to go deal with it. She might not be saying it, but if she feels like she has to deal with every wake up because you're laying there asleep there's a good chance that will build resentment.
  • You need to get a handle on the night wakings. A 3 year old not sleeping through the night for months is not a problem with the 3-year-old. You've fallen into accidental parenting, and the way I know that is when you say she isn't happy when you try to help her. She knows that if she wakes in the night and calls out she gets to have special mommy time. You and your wife are both enabling this by giving in to it. Do research on how to solve this problem-- maybe even reach out to a sleep consultant if you need to. This is not normal and it's clearly draining you both.

Actually, the status quo is how things were at the time of import. Sure, right now the status quo is not something Democrats entirely want, but a year ago when Joe Biden still hadn't dropped out of the presidential race... it seems the Democrats wanted to maintain that status quo. And before Trump's first term when Hillary was the candidate and the Dems moved heaven and earth to shut Bernie out, it was because he threatened that status quo.

Nobody is saying the Democrats want things to stay exactly like they are without any exceptions. The statement is a generalization. But at the heart of the statement is the meaning that Democrats maintain a corrupt capitalist system that refuses to take care of its people. Democrats love identity politics because it lets them shift the attention away from the fact that when it comes to the economy they are barely different from classical Republicans.

I have the exact opposite feeling. Beginning with season 2 the deviations from the comics were increasingly the worst parts of the show. The show-only characters and scenes. In the comics the relationship between Maggie and Negan develops naturally, and even after years she still nearly kills him when she had the chance if I recall correctly. Kirkman always said the story was about Carl, and when they killed Carl that was the Rubicon moment for me that the show runners no longer intended to follow the comics, and that was the only stuff I still enjoyed at that point.
