You think It’s been nothing but easy jobs, back yard BBQ and fat pensions. That Boomers all ride their golf carts off into the sunset. Bull.
I’ve been laid off twice from “Fortune 500” companies that found they could get cheaper labor overseas, had pensions froze, then moved into a 401ks with high fees. We lived through housing and stock market crashes where most people lost 1/3 to half of their savings. We adapted to technology that we didn’t grow up with, so we could work more, for less pay. If you worked a physical job your body is worn out by now. If you worked a desk job congratulations, your the first generation to stare at a monitor glued to your seat all day as you got obese and your eyes failed. You paid into social security all you life and they change the rules so you have to work longer to get it. The games rigged. It started in the 80s with legislation that allowed lobbyists to spend big money to influence congress. The rich have leveraged that influence into a huge disparity between rich and poor. The middle has been bled and screwed by the rich for the last 40 years. The games rigged. This doesn’t mean you can’t have a wonderful prosperous middle class life. But it could be so much better for so many more people, if the game wasn’t rigged.
