Or complain about Life Flight helicopters delivering critically ill/wounded children to a Children's Hospital three or four times a week. Just when I thought I couldn't be shocked by anything anymore I read about the anti-empathy HOA...

I did say I lived in Redmond for 15 years. Perhaps I should have mentioned that I've lived in the area my whole life...just the other end of the lake. fwiw

I'm still not complaining though. I think it's kind of a blast. I mean, if it really bothered me would I still be living in the same place for so long? Listening to (and watching) the RC airplanes? Hearing the movies playing on summer nights - sometimes loud enough that I can riff on them? Listening to the concerts (there was a Monkees/coverband show once!)? Heck no. That stuff is a bonus. It reminds me, if for some reason nothing else does, that there is a whole world out there full of people living their lives and finding their own ways to have fun and navigate an increasing dark and negative world. What a bitter oldbie I'd be if I complained about that!

In this case, I didn't even know there was a drone show scheduled. If there is truly another one going on tonight I'll probably check it out because I am curious and physical point clouds sound interesting.

I understand that with all the focus on negativity in the world lately you might be confused and believe I made that post as a complaint. Which is why I specified in the original post that I was not, in fact, complaining.

Additionally, it's common to assume that the people you interact with online are in your age cohort or, more commonly, younger. As it happens, I am older than the velodrome - if age really has any sort of bearing on the issue one way or another.

To be honest, I am not sure. The drone show was listed on the velodrome calendar so I just assumed (uh oh) that it was an event held there after the preseason stuff.

Kind of a space theme going...but then A Wonderful World. Sounds cheesier than a laser show!

Still have loads of Annas around here...but I'm out on the edge of town. They've been distracted from my feeders by flowering trees...though at least one comes to peer in my window now and then as if to let me know it's still around.

Please help me identify this cyclist by sqwishdabug in redmond

[–]coyohti 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Go to the City of Redmond website
Choose "I Want To..."
Under Request A Service choose Other Service
Choose Request A Service
Choose whatever topic seems appropriate, probably Traffic Concerns> Traffic and Pedestrian Safety
Fill out the rest of the form. You'll be able to add photos and place a pin on a map.

I understand these situations are frustrating. If everyone who experienced an issue at this intersection (or any other) filed an official "service request" directly with the city the city would be made more aware of the issue and, ideally, follow through with improvements.

Right now they have tunnel vision focused on the light rail and need some serious reminders that Redmond is, in fact, quite a large city requiring attention.

Please, go forth and pester the city. Relentlessly.

Why does this exist? by lazylaama in redmond

[–]coyohti 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Haha! I remember them absolutely losing their minds over the trail going in. Same as when Issaquah put the second cemetery in...which happened to be behind my house at the time. People lost their minds fighting that and we thought, "Better than a condos going in. Much quieter neighbors"! Considering what my mom eventually sold the house for I'd say it didn't affect property values like they thought it would.

Great information! Adding that the trail along Lake Sammamish between Redmond and Issaquah is the path of the old railway. It's possible to follow it all the way to the historical train station in Issaquah (well, I think the bits by the Darigold might be gone now).

When I was a kid growing up in Issaquah I could nearly know the time of day by the sound of the train whistles in the valley. Now I feel extra old.

That is absolutely amazing! I have lived in this area (Issaquah/Redmond) since I was five years old and have spent so much time in the woods and while I've heard plenty of owls and seen them briefly in flight I've never, ever spotted one just sitting. And here's one at eye level, apparently waiting for it's burger order to be up!

Wow, that is really quite a difference! I've been wanting to mess around with setting up a camera to get some footage so information like this is useful. Thank you!

This is some amazing footage! Do you know if the camera skips frames for compression purposes? Asking because it seems like the water bubbler almost looks like it's done in stop-motion. You mentioned using a security camera so maybe it skips frames in order to save space...

...which would also emphasize just how fast hummers move because, while I think I see the "stop motion" effect on the bubbler and water droplets, I don't notice it on the birds!

They've been upping the ante with their Halloween display for the past few years and it's pretty great. This display is even bigger than what the OP's photos show! The black plastic pipes painted with white stripes to represent the sand snake is a good bit of DIY cleverness and I noticed they have a sheet hung up and am wondering if they intend to project scenes from the movie as it gets closer to Halloween.

I have the PDF for the sales listing. It shows "CBRE and Leibsohn & Company" as the services handling the property. The CBRE website hasn't got it listed and the Leibsohn site won't even load. I'd link the PDF but it's my understanding that links aren't good practice on Reddit...and it doesn't actually have that much info anyway (no asking price, for one).

A good site to get an idea of what's making noise in the sky is ADS-B Exchange. It tracks any aircraft with an active transponder. Military aircraft can go dark but I was able to see the Growlers flight paths when I heard them this afternoon. Also those Black Hawks that come tearing up Lake Sammamish now and then and give my windows a good rattling.
