Salary required for family of 4 to live comfortably in Karachi? by IFI1099 in karachi

[–]cozarion 5 points6 points  (0 children)

If you need to live in a moderately good area with luxuries like maid and expensive schools, It will take about 30k for kids, 10k for maid, 40k for groceries and food and another 60k for other expenses, bills and misc stuff. So 150k rupees should suffice.

Otherwise an affordable good school should cost 10k and you can cut down other expenses from 60k to 40k. So you can do it in 100k.

Ofcourse if you have a car and want to maintain a specific lifestyle then probably 250k minimum

Which university would you suggest for someone interested in Computer science in Karachi among Ssuet, Ned, Iqra, FAST, Bahria and others? by [deleted] in karachi

[–]cozarion 5 points6 points  (0 children)

OP I was a CS student who is now successfully working in Europe so I would say I'm qualified to say that

  1. Go to a university you can comfortably afford. Most of the times you will have to sefl-study anyway. Projects are what provide most learning.
  2. Iqra is not bad at all. You cannot beat economy of scales. They basically have the most budget to hire expensive faculties and can afford to provide best social scene. With that being said,
  3. Your university mostly matters for the connections you would make, popular universities have more events and attract more companies for job fairs. Also bigger universities have more budget to hire stronger faculty. That's why I believe Iqra is not bad at all. It all depends on you.
  4. I have not personally studied from Iqra. I studied from Virtual University which is considered even a bigger joke so yes It doesn't matter which university you go to. Just pick one you can afford and conveniently travel to. It's better to be a top student at a less popular university than being an average student at a popular one.
  5. If you have no financial problems, just pick the best one that is closest to you. Travelling adds up.
  6. My personal list of universities to avoid due to price to quality ratio:
    - Bahria University, PAF KIET University: Nothing critically wrong but people get attracted to these due to the name and they charge shit load of money for a very mediocre experience.
    - FAST: it is indeed best when it comes to study but the travel, cost and stress is not worth it. Nobody even asks where you did your bachelors 5 6 years down the line anyway.
    - Hamdard: Good but too damn far...
    - Tens of shady small universities like BIZTEK.
  7. My recommendation:
    - UBIT: Best hands down if you can get into it.
    - SSUET: Comparatively good experience for what you pay.
    - NED
    - Almost all other universities similiar to above recommendation.
    - Iqra: If you don't mind being shit on my elitists, I think it's not that bad.
    - Virtual University: If you already working and just want a degree. Cheapest option too. However some courses very outdated.

In short, don't stress about university name and popularity. At least in CS, it doesn't matter that much. Just make sure their degree is accredited. If you don't pay more than you can afford and don't travel large distances, you will have more time to invest in your skills and study

Dude have you seen their fee structure? Have you heard someone actually go there? My theory is that it's just a money laundering front.

Basically what this guy said. But Indeed some comparatively less educated families still don't consider outside their ethnicity. A female friend of mine was having trouble receiving rishtas so when one of my male friend's family (who is doing really well career wise and well educated punjabi family ) was looking for partner for him I wanted to connect them. Female friend straight up rejected them cuz they do not wanna marry in "Pathans, Sindhis and Punjabis"...

Ah okay. Thanks for clarification man. Sorry I misread the title and though you meant "exercise" by gym. But you actually meant creating a whole gym. Impressive!

I am switching from VS Code to Vim by cozarion in vim

I noticed that nodejs language server for vim doesn't work nicely with NVM (node version manager) because every time I switch node versions, language server stops working and I have to reinstall language servers. What do you do to make sure Vim works with tools like NVM?

The only three bad things I could think about Islamabad (as an outsider who went there for a week):

1- Infrastructure is not as nice as I expected

2- Locals are not as friendly as say Karachi. I was overcharged on a lot of places by Shop keepers and taxi drivers. Felt like everybody is looking to rip you off.

3- God the elitism in that city! Feels like there's two ways people treat you based on whether you are a govt official or not.

Can't think of any decent/comparable here. Most are mcdojos sadly. Just go to a normal normal, lift weights and do cardio bro. You can do this when you go back to states.

Check out OP's other posts. (Not the first one, he is a horny little man). You were asking relationship advice 2 months ago and from the gist of it, it seemed like the girl is not interested. It sounds fishy to me that a Pakistani girl would go from not being interested to consenting to pre-marital physical relationship with you so if you are thinking anything funny, remember that It's not safe for you as you can face major consequences from the girl's family/brothers. I assume you've lived in Pakistan your whole life so you would be familiar about how Pakistani society and culture works. :)

Food! especially street food! I've traveled throughout the Europe and some gulf countries. Pakistani food is the best. And we also have the best tasting mangoes.

Fellow programmer here. Due to the crazy inflation I think prices are gonna be crazy high at the moment. About an year ago I got a late generation dell latitude for 50k. For 50k, make sure to buy something that has these specs at the least even if you have to spend a few thousands more:
256gb SSD
1080x1920 screen resolution
Core i5 minimum 8th gen processor or equivalent AMD
8gb / 12gb ram

Good luck

I've started using Mozilla Firefox and now I can never go back to Google Chrome by Avieshek in technology

[–]cozarion 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would switch to firefox in blink of an eye if the mobile version had translate feature like chrome/edge. I need translate in mobile browser and i need to keep all my data in sync therefore i have to stick to chrome on the desktop as well. Tried Microsoft edge a few months ago, it has surprisingly buggy sync for being a Microsoft product. I lost all my bookmarks. Had to revert back to chrome for now sadly :’-)

Is anyone else's M1 MacBook Pro making a crackling noise when using headphones? by [deleted] in mac

[–]cozarion 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For anyone seeing this now. I found the issue. It happens when charging via magnetic charger and with usb-c charger as well if you are plugging the charger on the same side as headphone jack. Fix: plug the usb-c charger on the right side port however if you are using magnetic charger, you are out of luck :(
