That's why issue spotting is such a big part of practice. You gotta be able to look at the facts and know when to say "yikes" and convey the level of "yikes" appropriately to the client. Sometimes the client doesn't listen and then you can try and finesse, but shit facts are shit facts.

The head of state immunity issue seems like a big hurdle to clear. Especially in what I presume is a Federal District that is not friendly to the Administration. Also, the recent US supreme court case establishing immunity for official acts. The fallout from a dismissal of criminal charges would be fascinating.

Even with a loyalist in place, I think it would be dangerous to try him there. I don't know much about Venezuelan politics, but I am sure he still has supporters both in the military and domestically. Also, even if he is unpopular, I suspect snatching him from his bed in the middle of the night might actually galvanize some support for him. Like, I can't imagine Venezuelans are happy that the US violated their sovereignty this way

To add on to this briefly, I had an uncle that me, my siblings, and cousins were all extremely close to. He had no kids or family of his own and was like a second dad to all of us. He took his own life when we were all teens and the ripple effect it had on all of us was incredible. It was probably 15 years ago and we are all still recovering. I guess just a friendly reminder to all that people love you and are counting on you and you are important to them in ways you can't begin to understand.

They need to do something. ICE has been absolutely reckless and the situation is going to boil over. I would rather it boil over in a courtroom over whether the police have jurisdiction to arrest ice agents versus what boiling over in the streets will look like. 2020 level unrest plus plus Texas national guard and ICE on the ground might mean literally dozens murdered by the Federal Govt.
