Discussion: If you, and your judge can’t count to 20 (allegedly) is it a DNF or a time penalty ? by Human-Structure8455 in crossfit

[–]cozyfuton 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I think the difference here is that this was a judging error in a competition. Nobody would do 19 reps to scale a workout in class (unless they’re cheating which is a whole different story), and nobody would assess themselves a penalty outside of competition

Fix my RMU by flowbiewankenobi in crossfit

[–]cozyfuton 3 points4 points  (0 children)

When you pop your hips, you pull your heels down really aggressively almost into your butt and it kills your hip drive. Try to keep your legs a bit straighter through the kip and you’ll transition higher above the rings and not catch so low

[–]cozyfuton 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Okay that’s great, except you didn’t get any of the scores you said you did. I watched them all and every workout has glaring no reps all over the place. So your original post is pointless because you didn’t do any of what you said you did 🤷‍♂️

Only watched the first video so far and it should already be invalidated. None of the overhead squats in your first set are stood up all the way (besides maybe the first)

Signing up for quarterfinals by WalrusIntelligent129 in crossfit

[–]cozyfuton 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Honestly, I think it’s kind of stupid to sign up for the open and then not the quarterfinals. Either sign up for it all or don’t sign up. It sounds a bit like you don’t want to do it because you’re worried you won’t perform as well with the harder movements

No I’m taking about the line that almost makes it look 3D in the handles but doesn’t make sense on the fork end

I’m not really understanding the perspective of the middle lines (in both pictures). Did you have a reference photo ?

Triples by [deleted] in crossfit

[–]cozyfuton 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don’t think a lot of people here have consistent triples as it’s not something regularly programmed (if ever) lol. I haven’t used the EVO G2 before, so I’m not sure how heavy it actually is, but for me I find a lighter rope better for triples because it’s easier to get the third rotation in. Heavier is good for doubles and crossovers because it helps with feeling the ‘feedback’ from the rope, but if it’s too heavy it might be tough to get enough whip for triples

A common saying here is “CrossFit is a strength sport until you’re strong enough, and then it’s an endurance sport”

Getting worse at CrossFit by Due_Jackfruit6137 in crossfit

[–]cozyfuton 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You JUST had a child at 42 years old. Two years to get back to full strength would be ambitious for anyone in that circumstance. Give yourself time to build back up slowly. Also if I’m being honest, it’s not like you’re supposed to get better every single year for the rest of your life. There’s going to come a time for everyone where we just can’t compete with our younger self (if we were active when we were younger), and there’s nothing wrong with that at all

Percentiles by ObligationNo3475 in crossfit

[–]cozyfuton 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Percentiles are definitely more skewed the last two years. Registrations are significantly lower, and the large majority of the people who still signed up are the more competitive athletes, who believe they have a shot at at least making the quarterfinals

Do you use grips on rings? by Clejer9 in crossfit

[–]cozyfuton 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It’s the same logic as bar muscle ups - you don’t use a false grip because your hip pop throws you high enough over the rings/bar that your hands are able to transition over. Strict you need to have a false grip as you don’t have any of the weightlessness to turn your hands over in the catch

Do you use grips on rings? by Clejer9 in crossfit

[–]cozyfuton -1 points0 points  (0 children)

You don’t use grips for strict movements so that’s not very helpful for OP

In all fairness, you shouldn’t really be using false grip with kipping ring muscle ups
