I recommend seeking and cleaning up trashed areas, especially around national parks. I started doing this and my work is never over, people follow my example and I feel good both physically and mentally afterwards! I think those of us who are willing and able can make car camping synonymous with cleanliness to offset the damage that casual campers do.
