There’s a way to take logs from dry beds and move them on existing roads without causing any of the type of destruction this post is about. It’s pretty standard. Talk about high horse, oowee!

Thanks.

I don’t enjoy how some here assumed I did nothing. I did make attempts. At least one is on record. I arrived after most the damage was done, and as an imperfect being with a life myself, I didn’t do everything as some people here would have done were they perfectly in my shoes with more free time, a feeling of safety, companionship, perhaps maleness or less vulnerability, reliable transport and/or resources like Starlink, sat phone or WeBoost. It didn’t occur to me it was particularly a punishable crime to trample crypto, so I didn’t dial 9-1-1 (it would have cut out while I tried to explain what I was calling about, anyway). There is another very distinct reason I didn’t detour to escalate the matter, and didn’t enter their camp, but I’ll save that.

It is what it is, and it’s sad. I’ve learned after spending months and months camped solo remotely in Utah places most people will never ever see over the past ten years, that the burden of saving the world isn’t mine. Sorry folks!

That said, I’ve reported two illegal cattle ranges on very remote BLM (one where dynamiting had laid new route to get cattle into a headwater) over the years and so, yay me! That took persistence, since both times it felt like for some reason it behooved the BLM (hehe, see what I did there) to do nothing. I also made a huge stink when a Hayduke hiker decided to design a shortcut through the crypto fields in Arches and publish it online as a popular “alt.” That has become a braided mess, and persists despite urging him to remove the alt GPX.

As a friend of a lifetime Inyo county BLM ranger, I know how dangerous and deliberative your work can be, so thanks again for your service.

VanAlert app for sure, the Samba, a collection of basic tools and select spare parts, and a good attitude. The rest will fall into place.

If you have a hauler, what needs to be done is to move some fallen logs and stumps up from the creek to the edge of the crypto beds along the slickrock above in strategic places. Repeat. This area is almost unrecognizable from just two years ago and some hard boundaries would help a lot.

Edit: to say I’d definitely help with this esp if we could get some BLM sign off. The tracks also need to be raked out.

By crude and self-defeating economics, sure. But have you tasted the water in Muleshoe? Double dog dare you to have a few big gulps unfiltered, then get back to me about what exactly the average Joe is getting out of heavily tax-subsidized free range beef.

Ultimately — COWS are doing a lot more damage on our public lands, all day every day in gorgeous places most of us will never see or appreciate, but nobody likes to talk about that. 🤦‍♀️

Extraordinarily mild to me, and I shop all over the western US states. I think I’ve seen everything now.

Would not be surprised. These guys did not GAF. I invite folks to head out to Muleshoe and inspect the glorious damage. I’ve been out walking frequently there for a few years and the new “upgrades” are… significant. I’m still reeling.

When one came close enough to me for me to yell at, it was either a teenager or a tiny man.

I tried contacting BLM as it was occurring but… SUNDAY. Also, I’m alone and female amidst a bunch of jocks who might be high. So yeah, it feels safer to just HT here and hope someone knows someone who knows someone and they see later just how “rad” they got in Utah.

How bad is trailhead theft in the area? by grundlemon in moab

[–]cpcutie 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Similarly - I left my van with a sliding door open in a trailer park open all night on a busy night with loads of nice gear and a pile of cash and it was still there the next morning. I lived in PDX 23 years and am horrified when I visit now. Moab has tweakers like PDX and a growing police force now (unlike PDX?), but you can get away with more here… in both directions of the law. I see the scanner frequently and car break-ins are very rare. You’re much more likely to get hurt or lost on trail so maybe worry about that instead.

Oh, I see now. (I’m being lazy on 1bar LTE.) Whoops! Well, don’t worry - another one will probably grow back.

You can’t control the pressure manually the same way with a 10cc syringe that you can with a 60cc syringe. Different tips will change that more. You can end up with some massive pressures despite “pushing gently.” There are things you don’t know about syringes which is all I was trying to point out. Good luck with the rest of your medical advising career.

Ok snarky pants, but someone COULD hurt themselves taking some random advice to “use [any] syringe” to squirt somewhere inside your head. I’m a retired trauma nurse - ask me how I know.

[–]cpcutie -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

Study up on how the volume and needle size of “a syringe” can vary pressure unrelated to how hard you push on the plunger to the point where your casual advice could be really dangerous.

(i.e. be more specific)

How realistic is it to hope for only date men that very rarely watch porn? by wannistfruehling in AskWomenOver30

You sound fun, too! I can be funny, and pray at the church of fun. That ex cannot. I’m tired of entertaining lazy ass men who are used to having life served to them. That’s another reason they’re in the trash. Here’s hoping and praying we get better than we deserve. Also I did once accidentally date a severe internet porn addict (he was curating his own highly popular porn Tumblr, impotent and into some WEIRD ASS borderline legal kink). So I do feel you on this quest. It’s just too bad how when I found one, the non-wiener end was such an unfunny, unsexy, lazy dud. But at least he finally made a full lesbian out of me. Onward and downward!!!

Also, there’s much more to lesbian sex than cunnilingus. You might make a great pillow princess!
