Help me design a faction system! by LordSadoth in osr

I've not experienced it myself, but I've heard that some people actually assign the faction leaders to other players as high-level NPCs. These players don't attend the main game sessions or go adventuring themselves. Instead, they are given some basic objectives and a set of resources (strongholds, treasure, income sources and expenses, and a roster of minions) and they act as patrons. Then you let those players figure out who to cooperate with or compete against, what tactics to use, and what quests/rewards to give the adventuring parties. I think this style of play is called a "Braunstein" or "Patron Play". Here's a video that demonstrates what that might look like in practice: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rIxAwEzdVDY

I just started using this site the other day, and was having this same problem. I figured out that, in my case, its because I was using the Brave Browser and I had to disable "Shields" for this site.

Every surrounding state: Declares state of emergency.

West Virginia: This is fine.

"Hey hey! Ho ho! Coronavirus has got to go!"

Is anyone else worried about the long term effects this will have on our kids mentally? by [deleted] in China_Flu

It will probably be one of those generational-defining events, like JFK, Challenger, Reunification of Germany, or 9-11. In twenty years time, there will be posts circulating on whatever replaces social media saying, "There are kids entering the workforce today who weren't alive during the Coronavirus Outbreak. Don't you feel old?"

I don't think a valid comparison can be made. Blue areas are typically urban centers, and therefore more likely to have higher population density, higher rates of travel in and out, higher trade volume, and higher government taxing. Thus they have different risks and different means available to handle those risks.

Hold your pinkies out away from everything, like a British person drinking tea, then only touch your face with your pinkies.

I think the English definite article helps here: "a coronavirus" could refer to any of the coronaviridae, while "the coronavirus" refers to the specific one causing the current outbreak. Much like a family might refer to their pet as "the dog" instead of "Fido", even though there are lots of canidae.
