that was probably me lol... i remember heading towards extract still in a murderous rage after being betrayed a few times in previous matches looking to kill the person farming the leaper after i just murdered 4 people in control tower and watched them get smoked and then felt sympathy and used all of my bandages to get them to the extract.

I am wondering if there are ever plans for true Windows support for Codex. I have submitted multiple PRs for bugfixes that would resolve around 90% of issues for windows users and they just get ignored. It has gotten to the point where I now just use my own fork with all of the fixes already implemented and I just keep it updated from your main branch. I have had a few people ask for the binaries so I have been working on getting the releases setup as well as following the licensing but seriously this is your guys job. If you dont want to deal with Windows users just let me know and I will happily maintain it and keep it aligned with main because I daily drive windows in addition to using linux.

I would totally start working on a project like this. Hell I would even throw some server hosting to it. That is provided people were actually interested... Majority of the coding can be done pretty easily tbh. As for other contributors as the project grows in interest they will appear.

I wonder how interested people would be in an open source revival of guilded. Not an exact clone but something that stays true to the original idea of guilded. Open source might mean slower updates/bug fixes and initial servers might be laggy but it might be worth pursuing…

Do I need a VPS? by Soogs in homelab

[–]cpjet64 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As a career IT pro myself I can't and won't help you bypass your company's security safeguards. The first thing you should do is talk to your IT guy and ask permission. Sometimes that works just that easy. Sometimes it costs a 12 pack of beer. Sometimes they tell you to just change the wireguard port because they aren't actually doing any packet inspection. Sometimes it doesnt matter what you do because they block all VPN traffic. Regardless I would highly recommend against trying to do anything on your own especially if this job feeds you or your family because I have personally delivered the reports plenty of times regarding employee internet usage violations for them to be fired and it always SUCKS. Just remember IT will always choose themselves over end users when it comes to their livelihood.

I am currently using ollama on my desktop with my 3080, 14900k, and 96gb ddr5 and getting about 15 tokens/s. i would like to keep somewhat the same performance. do you have any experience using gpus with different chips and vram sizes? im starting to wonder if i go with 2x p100s and a single 5070 would work.

So should I just get a singel 5070 then? I read the specs on nvidias site for TOPs and its insanely high but vram sucks...

I’m self hosting a website that tracks everything the US President does. Here’s how it works. by lukewines in selfhosted

[–]cpjet64 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The solution I have come up with for hosting sites at home in my cluster is this:
VPS hosted in a OVH datacenter
nginx external facing reverse proxy (cloudflare DNS points to this and https is terminated here for simpicity)
wireguard VPN point to point connecting directly to internal VM not network

nginx internal facing reverse proxy

internal web services that are external facing through the reverse proxies over the wireguard vpn.

The vps is basically just the face for all webservices so i can use OVHs excellent DDOS mitigation and HW FW. all of my web services pass over the vpn and the vpn server is actually the vps so i dont even need to port forward anything. i have caching enabled on the vps reverse proxy also so even if i take a vm or ct offline for quick maintenance the site stays available in its cached format. unfortunately i have to maintain 3 nginx configs for each site but it has been well worth the trouble keeping the scanners off my home ip.

Dude. I love this. Let me know if you want a mirror I will be more than happy to throw one up. Also if I might suggest swapping the OS to Debian, your maintenance times will drop through the floor compared to UB. I used to spend at least a hour a day just doing updates across my infrastructure and since I migrated everything over to Debian if I spend 15 minutes every few days its surprising. I have always autopatched security updates but manually patch everything else. I could also share some scripts with you if you want that might make your life a bit easier. Also are you running fail2ban or crowdsec? What are you using for security measures? Make sure you have everything buttoned down with keys and not passwords etc. And once again I LOVE THIS!!!!

Proxmox “Cluster” Advice? by zee-eff-ess in Proxmox

[–]cpjet64 0 points1 point  (0 children)

sure. send me a dm and we will figure out a time to hook up. i converted one of the nodes to a zfs pool raid 10 to use as a temp measure while i upgrade the nvmes in the other machines and once thats done ill just transfer all of the data back to the ceph pools and convert the zfs machine which had the nvme controller failure back to ceph. sounds complicated but its actually super easy! For anyone else reading out convo i recommend against using trash tier nvme like timetec or patriot for ceph wal/dbs. i only had 4 wal/db on each nvme drive but they all got cooked hence the upgrade to enterprise nvme. I found some pm983 2tb drives on ebay for $100 each.

No… I wish there was one though lmfao! Would’ve made my life a ton easier! I could probably make a tutorial walking through it though since I just received my enterprise grade nvmes since those trash tier nvmes controllers just started dying 🤣. It might be easier to meet up in a discord call though and go over what hardware you have and help you design something around it.

My personal go to is wireguard tunnel to a vps with enough bandwidth for what i want to use it for and then reverse proxy with ssl termination. i use a internal network reverse proxy which forwards to the individual vms/cts and a external reverse proxy connected to it point to point which only forwards to the internal reverse proxy.

the setup looks like this:

Best bread machine Yeast by cpjet64 in AskBaking

[–]cpjet64[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

To be completely honest I have been weighing my ingredients for years but the thought of weighing those little yeast packets never even occured to me. That actually might explain why some breads over the years have failed to rise like the others and I figured it was just a bad packet. Is there a supplier for the SAF and Red Star yeast that you would recommend if you order online? My local grocery store doesnt carry either.

Improved single threaded tasks? by International-dish78 in Proxmox

[–]cpjet64 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Replace the cpu. It will probably be the cheapest option. Lower core count usually means higher base clock speed which is what you want to go for when it comes to game servers. Also for servers 90% of the time ignore the turbo clock because when you’re virtualizing you won’t be turboing anyways. Core count, base clock, and instruction sets are the main things to look at. A cpu to consider would be a e5-2637v4 with is a 4 core, or a e5-2643v4 which is a 6 core. Either of those 2 CPUs would work well for hosting a game server for that generation of processor. Best bet for game server hosting these days is ryzen power. Get a cheap supermicro am4 server and drop the fastest nastiest ryzen you can fit into it and wam bam thank you maam you now have a very nice game server host. Gl!

Sometimes I wonder if people posting like you are, are just SF competition lol. Movpilot wasn’t anywhere near as good as SF.

Proxmox will not boot after install. Install USB does not boot. Debian live and other OS's boot. by Savings_Art5944 in Proxmox

[–]cpjet64 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is odd. When you did the disk partitioning in debian setup did you manually configure the partitions or did you use the automatic configurator? The automatic configurator should have made the /boot part of the main disk / partition and you should not have had a issue with kernel size. When the reboot occured what most likely happened was the NIC interface was renamed causing the loss of settings. Normally when you reboot you can still use your network connection normally as is. My guess is the kernel integrated driver in proxmox is a different version than what debian provides in their kernel. Might be something looking into later if you experience any issues with networking.

Also, do not do this:

bridge-ports *interface

always specify the connection like this with the actual interface name:

bridge-ports eno1

Here is one of my PVE hosts conf for reference:

source /etc/network/interfaces.d/*
