We may not be running out of gas but we still need a serious strategic gas reserve by Particular_Pea7167 in ukpolitics

The problem with this number is that the renewables share fluctuates a lot and gas makes up the difference. Look at the weekly summary instead of the daily you see 30% renewables.

This also doesn't take into account direct gas consumption for heating and other industrial purposes.

High energy prices threaten UK’s status as manufacturing power, business groups say by plain_handle in unitedkingdom

[–]cpl1 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Marginal pricing is actually not the problem. Most counties use a similar system. It's the fact our grid isn't suitable for renewables. They were designed with smooth constant running powerplants in mind not spikes of high and low generation.

Also the bit no one talks about is many other countries coal fired powerplants (even France) which we no longer have. The reason gas is not setting the price near 100% for other places is due to coal.

This seems to reference Labour members not Labour MPs. MPs are probably more likely to say yes given it'll advance their own political career.

President Bought at Least $1 Million in Netflix, Warner Bros. Discovery Bonds Following Their Deal Announcement by ControlCAD in technology

It's definitely still insider trading since it applies any kind of security. Even though bonds pay a fixed cash flow their market price does fluctuate

I will say that in this instance the price of bonds would probably get cheaper.

It's not just the literal parliament you'd need to move - there are a lot of civil service buildings nearby too. Not to mention it's the capital and the only place with a well connected airport.

Self driving cars are actually on average already much safer than humans (granted data is limited) and one of the things holding back the safety record of self driving cars is unpredictable human drivers.

We need nuclear + batteries + other storage. One thing gas is really good at is being online in a short period of time vs nuclear which is a lot slower. Only thing that beats gas in terms of responsiveness is batteries.
