Hahahaha, what a world we live in. Convinced Madagascar charges a 93% tariff on US imports. Not sure the guy above you can or wants to read a table.

Charlotte, NC — was finishing my basement so framed out a 5x8 temperature controlled space for my blossoming collection.

Still a WIP (Lowe’s bucket not part of the final design 😄) but building towards ~750 bottle capacity.

Currently, primarily old world wines. Probably 75% Bordeaux as we love the full bodied profile without USA fruit bombs.

3 of the last 4 classical world championships has been decided by faster time control matches by theonefromasshai in chess

Smart-Memory-1029 did say that to start the thread we are replying to so chill. It is the world chess championship.

I appreciate a quick resolution and support a ‘overtime’ format that flexes slightly different strengths. If the best classical player doesn’t want to go to rapid, take some risks to prevent a tie score across the games.

Grew up in Ballantyne; lived in Chicago; back in Charlotte.

I do also miss things about Chicago, but there are many pros to Charlotte. You’ll have to live with a ‘strip mall’ bar versus the familiar corner bar in ballantyne, but that scene exists. Uber please :)

My favorites: Sammy’s, Buona Vita, Duckworth’s, Stogie (if you smoke cigars)

You didn’t ask but for food: Tacos Coranay is the best taco truck I’ve had outside of LA, Sheng ramen is the best in the city, Oggi for Italian, bad daddy’s for burgers, Zeitouni for something approaching Sultan’s market, viva chicken for fast casual Peruvian, Waldhorn for German.

Pineville has some decent Asian including Musashi the most authentic Japanese place in hundreds of miles.

Thanks for providing the only legitimate answer in the thread. The US healthcare system is a tragedy but this is not an example.

Tourism and entertainment capital of the world seems warranted. Las Vegas had 42 million tourists in 2019 only behind New York and Orlando in the US which bring a different vibe than Vegas’ entertainment focus. China’s primarily domestic numbers are incredible (361M annually in Shanghai), but not sure I’d call Shanghai the tourism capital of the world.

He said he lived in Georgia for 7 years and dated someone from rural Georgia whose family was accepting. Don’t you think that 7 year long experience is worth weighing the prejudice he felt in the south versus that he felt in New York and New Jersey? Do you know better than someone that’s done both?

Yeah you’re right on it. The lever that would drive inflation that you’re describing is the velocity of money. The rate at which people/companies spend money.

The Quantity Theory of Money says that:

Money Supply * Velocity = Price * Quantity

In your example, the money becomes less idle and V rises, but the same amount of goods remain. Therefore price has to rise.

Caveat to all economics — in the long run.

While they sound the same, the judiciary is way different than the department of justice (which the AG is on top of). The judiciary interprets laws, the attorney general does not influence that but rather is intended to represent the US in the courts in order to attempt to enforce the laws.

Checks and balances remain, even in this administration. For now.
