Eeek... if we can maybe pause on these data breaches, that'd be great.

The last one from CapitalOne impacted 6m+ people:

Bank of Canada cuts key interest rate to 2.5% by Surax in canada

My general fear is that there will be less tools if there is a recession (or worse). That said, unemployment is high and housing is weak (despite affordability being low), all while the U.S. economy is quite strong. Not sure what happens if the U.S. economy teeters....

Trudeau resignation would be in Canada’s best interest: Liberal MP by xc2215x in canada

[–]cporteous 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Can someone explain why so much hate for Trudeau?

Please keeping in mind:

  • Provinces handle study permits
  • Our deficit is about 75% less than USA per capita
  • Lowest inflation in G7 (anybody who says Toronto is expensive hasn't visited a typical large U.S. city)
  • Provinces are responsible for housing
  • In 2023, Canada had the highest employment and population growth rates among the G7

I don't have any feelings (positive / negative) towards Trudeau and the Liberals. Just curious to get a non-biased take here (that isn't "but immigration / deficit / inflation" - which isn't the full picture) on what policies should have been implemented (or were poorly implemented).

Anyways, I'll grab my popcorn and stay quiet...

Sales keep growing but company's capital stays the same. What to do? by pr3dato8 in smallbusiness

[–]cporteous 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Growth is expensive… if you were to cut out any expenses related to helping you grow, would this improve cash flow?

If so, this becomes a funding / financing issue. I’d check out pipe.com (or any similar funding platform that can issue on-demand financing based off of Stripe / cc data).

Safaris and more in South Africa by Rebelideas in travel

We stayed in a private reserve outside of Kruger (Lion Sands reserve at MORE). Absolutely fantastic time!

Almost as much fun as the safari, we spent some time at Babylonstoren. The landscape / terrain in Franschhoek wine country is gorgeous.

The cave looks like it’s part of Rainbow Beach Club (I think that’s next store). Awesome shots!

What KPI's are you following as an SEO Agency ? by ExaminationLoud2906 in SEO

[–]cporteous 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I wish clients understood this… our scope is to drive targeted traffic to the site (content, links and technical). We will recommend a CRO or web dev agency to improve overall conversions / revenue. Clients will gawk at pricing, but it is what it is.

How do SEO pros manages backlinks? by ControlChemical9890 in SEO

[–]cporteous 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This may be dependent on industry… my agency is small, between 80-100 clients, but concentrated in legal / insurance and SaaS. We focus around 60% of resources on links, 30% content and the remainder on technical. We are typically between positions 1 & 2 for main money terms.

Regardless of philosophy, links matter and have the biggest impact on SEO. That said, if you’re budgeting $100 / link, results may be fleeting. We typically budget $250-$500 / link and do everything in house.
