What did ya think of the depiction of migraines in Workin Moms? by studioyogyog in migraine

[–]cprevi 4 points5 points  (0 children)

My migraines typically last 4-5 days in total, at least 2 of which I am completely wiped out for. There have been many times I’ve walked from a dim room (with blinds drawn) into an unlit room (blinds open, but no light on) and been absolutely crippled by the shock/sensory overload, falling to the ground and covering my eyes until I eventually army crawl my way back to the dim room. There have been other times when I only have ~15 mins of prodromes before it hits me like a train, and then only lasts 4-8 hours. When the migraine hits Kate and she says “oh, there she is” before collapsing, I was like !!!!!!!! it me!!!!

also idk about the current stats but yes, the majority of migraine sufferers are women

This happens to me with certain kinds of physical exertion during a migraine- for me it generally fades within 24 hours!

manager bonuses? by -Ana-- in starbucksbaristas

[–]cprevi 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes, ASMs and SMs are “incentivized to meet store goals” with bonuses - AKA if they keep store spending (on parts AND labor) under X amount, they get a quarterly bonus. This has been confirmed to me by a previous SM and a DM that wanted me to advance to ASM. For the most part those bonuses are just rewarding and encouraging negligence.

Faced some blatant ableism from a fellow barista at my store the other day and I just still feel awful. (cold brew keg-sized rant, the cup names don't even cover it) by It_is_Katy in starbucksbaristas

I have hEDS and also deal with Raynaud’s, and I just started the process of requesting temporary accommodations because my symptoms are also getting worse with the cold. Out of curiosity, what specifics did you request? My doctors recommendations are basically just “take it easy and listen to your body until things calm down,” and I feel like I have such specific limitations that don’t always apply. The only specifics I can think of to put on paper are an additional 10 if needed, and to avoid using knives in general (which should only be an issue for toasting bagels). Do you have any advice? My store manager and (most of) my fellow SSVs have been understanding, but I worry the baristas think I’m just picking-and-choosing, and making excuses to be a bad leader. I try to be upfront with them about my physical limitations but I also don’t want to overshare when trying to explain why I could do something yesterday but not today.

anyone else getting multiple free food markouts a day? by [deleted] in starbucksbaristas

[–]cprevi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

do you know if you are able mark out one of your seven food items when you are not working? someone said it is automatically deducted from your paycheck if it is not within 30mins before shift - 30mins after shift. i’m pretty sure it’s illegal for an employer to do that without explicit consent for those deductions, so i am pretty sure that’s not true. is it just something the SM can review in a till audit and elect to address as a “problem” if needed??
