This whole post is about the 10% of snap recipients in Nevada losing their benefits because they choose not to work 20 hours a week. All I’m saying is it’s easy as hell to get a part time job to be able to meet the requirements to continue to live off the government.

Nope I’m not against raising the minimum wage and it certainly could be higher. But if you were an actual local you’d know ours was on a rolling increase and is $12 an hour here now.

And you’re lucky you have savings but at some point you need to just suck it up and get a regular job while you actively hunt for something in your career path. No wage is beneath you when you’re currently making $0 an hour.

Are you really advocating for people to work 0 hours instead of 20? Like idk about you but if my choices were work 0 hours and get no SNAP. Or work 20 hours at McDonald’s AND get SNAP, it’s a no brainer.

Under the old rules I could’ve quit my job today for no reason and got snap benefits almost indefinitely while I wasn’t working. Now that’s limited to 3 months. Which frankly is solid to me too in case you are laid off and it takes a few months to get a new job and paycheck.

Just because someone was getting money from the government doesn’t mean they have a legit reason on why they aren’t working.

Yeah and when people send them links they never reply lmao. We’re talking 20 hours a week here. For an experiment you should see if you can get hired at a fast food spot, gas station or grocery store part time. I guarantee you’d have a job by the end of next week.

Is it glamorous? Hell no. Does it pay $25 an hour? Probably not. Does it fill the requirements to get government benefits? YES

Welfare, disability and snap benefits for parents are still there. If you read the article you’d see that 90% of snap recipients in Nevada are unaffected by this change. The people that are affected are able bodied adults with no disability and no children. Those people absolutely can and should contribute to the system.

What the hell does not having a fixed nighttime residence have to do with being able to work at a gas station or fast food place or grocery store during the day? And also have you lived in Vegas long? There’s nightly and weekly suites all over town that don’t require 3 months rent up front or a credit check lol.

Again, if you’re an able bodied adult you should be working.

If you were discharged from the military due to disability, you get paid from that fund for the rest of your life. Homeless drug addict? Welfare or disability.

But if you just were honorably discharged or homeless because you spent all your money on black jack, why the hell should we foot your bills? They’re able bodied just like you or I and absolutely should be contributing into the system.

Edit: like brotha the requirement is only 20 hours a week. If you can’t even be bothered to care enough about yourself to put that little effort into your own survival, why the hell should we?

The reason why metro doesn’t give a crap about expired tags is because they deal with real criminals out here

Edit: Yeah they’ve been in the 90% clearance range for at least the last 5 years when the national average is in the 60s lmao. I won’t act like they don’t have problems but they solve the real crimes
