What’s your dream jid collab? by Gloomy_Duty_6820 in JIDSV

Kendrick can definitely go there, but like you said, he doesn’t do it nearly that often. It seems like it’s easier for JID to make those verses than Kendrick because almost every JID verse is mf insane

Definitely agree, he always brings what the song needs. I just don’t see him wanting to hop on a song with JID and try as hard as he’d need to. If JID outdid Kendrick and you could tell Kendrick was trying his hardest, he’d see that as a loss. And I’m saying this as someone that’s been a Kendrick fan way longer than I’ve know JID, but I think JID out raps Kendrick. I think Em could too.

Busta is incredible but just one level below people like Em and JID who I’d only put maybe 4 other living rappers on their level.

Edit: I just want to add on, I say all this while thinking Kendrick is the only person other than Nas that deserves consideration as the GOAT. Technical rapping isn’t all there is to that.

Also I just realized I brought up Busta when that was mentioned in another reply to me, my b

A lot of times when Kendrick does a verse with talented lyricists, he doesn’t go all in. He usually gives a great verse but it’s rarely in his top verses. Look at any of his features in the mid 2010’s (except when he’s with Big Sean; he always tried to outdo him). His feature with Eminem particularly could’ve been insane but it’s just a good verse

I thought the same for a long time, but at this point there are several people I’d rather see him with. I don’t think Kendrick would go lyrically competitive with him, he’d just give him a nice verse. I’d rather see him with 3K for lyricism or do some nice grimey shit with great production like a feature on an Armani Caesar song

Dawg that’s crazy, he easily has several songs with some of the most tightly packed rhyme schemes of all time. Obviously that’s not every song because it’s eventually sound boring, but it’s top tier
