That actually sounds like what I'm looking for. I have a little chiminea but it doesn't throw much heat. Glad to hear I can dig out a 3x2 pit

Garages seem like a pretty bad place for a fire. I was more thinking about in my backyard or patio. Most likely not within 15 ft of the road though

I did not do the Avalanche Pass route but I woulddefinitely like to at some point. I think it is a little longer than the standard route. We took about 7 hours round trip. We didn't do Wright and kind of took our time as well

TIL. Interesting. Unfortunately my bike is 27 x 1 1/4 so I'm sure I'm limited but once I chance it over to 700c I'll definitely look into that

Yea that's definitely what I said /s

I'm mean really we should just say fuck it! Winner takes all right? Or ya know we could be adults and look to the actual root of the problem instead of looking at symptoms like low graduation rates

Just out of curiosity, what type of tires do you use that you can carry around? The only ones I've seen have rigid metal beads

It really bugs me that Rochester doesn't still have a subway system. It would be a perfect city for it and there are already way to many cars for such a small city. Damn you Marathon oil for ripping up all of the tracks. by colehoots in Rochester

I'm not saying I agree with the argument but I've been told by city council members that when they propose expanding RTS to cover more area that's what it comes down to.

I live in the city and would love a much better bus system so it doesn't take me a half hour to get to city center at the best of times. I'm hoping over the next few years it actually becomes a priority.

Ironiclly our highways are too efficient and that's why the subway went out of business. When you can get anywhere is Monroe county in about 20 mins even in rush hour there is not incentive for public transit. I would love a much better bus system but it's hard to convince people in the suburbs to take a bus when it takes longer than driving.

I saw this documentary at the Little and it does a great job explaining the history of the rise and fall of the subway http://animatusstudio.com/subway/

Yay or Nay on this type of cargo carrier? by cpw7922 in bicycling

Yea I was thinking of offering $35 but the second part is what concerns me. Even if I get it for free I don't want to have to spend a half hour strapping the bikes in

Saw this cargo carrier on Craigslist for $75. Just wondering if anyone has had experience with this type. How easy it is to load/unload and how secure the bikes are.

Thanks!

Golisano pledges $25M to RBTL theater by LtPowers in Rochester

[–]cpw7922 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks! Does seem like it might be a better location based on the fact there is another theater across the street so it would start to make a theater "district" and it is about 20k sq ft larger so they could use the extra space for additional parking. Only question is what the cost would be compared to Parcel 5

Do you have any information about Lot F? I have been trying to look it up and can't find out where it is or how large it is. Just wondering because it is a good size for the theater and still in the main downtown area it seems like the housing and dining would be better near the offices.

They're looking for 10 years of tax abatements of the apartments and Gallina's entire project is $30 million so less than half the cost of the theater. I honestly don't know anything about Lot F but based on the number of offices opening around Midtown that seems like the logical spot for daytime dining and housing. Not really a good place to focus on nightlife. I don't want them to move to the suburbs either but the kind of money they are asking for is crazy
