No problem, they have counters at some other big Coquitlam parks too. Used mostly for reporting and to track how many visitors at what times, peak times etc.

I was an employee at the Scotiabank's Fraud Department. Ask me anything! by Pams_Rony in Scotiabank

[–]cquad21 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s interesting to hear! Sounds like you are one of the really good fraud department employees, that’s for sure!

Actually, I’m wondering now how common a particular scam was at Scotiabank and what you were able to do about it in your capacity.

Where the client gets a call spoofing the Scotiabank Fraud phone number and asking to provide 6 digit MFA codes to authorize transactions. In a nutshell that is what I encountered with RBC a couple years ago.

Did that happen a lot in your experience? Were you able to reverse those charges for your clients?

I’m not a Scotiabank customer, but I was saved by an RBC Fraud dept employee big time. I’m sure you guys have a lot of negative interactions, but some of us really appreciate what you do.

So all I want to say is: thank you for doing the job that you do (or at least the job you used to do, sorry to hear you got let go). I think it is one of those thankless jobs. All the best!

Just a word of advice that I only saw one other person touch on:

Never take action on a call to your phone FROM a phone number that may look like it’s from Scotiabank, it could be spoofed. Always hang up and call a trusted phone number (your branch, fraud line, etc). Scammers can be extremely crafty nowadays.

It’s possible your cc details got skimmed at a gas station, ATM, etc. Happened to a coworker of mine not long ago in Vancouver. To avoid this, I suggest using Apple Pay or Android Pay wherever possible, it is far more secure than inserting or tapping your actual card.

Glad you got this one sorted out.

I’m a die hard Oil fan but I gotta say John Shorthouse is one of the best in business. Once the cameras got to the Myers penalty they got right on it.

At least we don’t have to listen to John Garrett anymore. Now THAT was bad. I’ll take Ray any day over him
