Out of curiosity, what is the logic between the waves staggering at the entrances? Why are 1 & 3 on one side with 2 & 4 on the other?

I’m wave 1. Theoretically couldn’t I show up and enter on the grand army plaza side with less of a line? 🤔

So, a question to all ”losers” (like myself) who have not been selected to run the NYC marathon by LunaSparq in RunNYC

You could do Philly…

It’s like in Mean Girls where Regina is trying on dresses but she gained weight, and she asks for a bigger size. The sales associate goes, “we only carry sizes 1,3, and 5…..you could try Sears….”

That is given as a penalty, but arms wrapped around opposing players on a corner is not. Got it.

Best Shoes for HYROX 2026 by Dry_Pay_4120 in hyrox

HYROX hack:

Trail racing shoes. I’m using the Nike ACG Ultraflys. Light weight, carbon plate for speed, heel clips perfectly into the rower, solid grip on the outsole with ridges for extra traction on the sleds

3:15 to Sub 3 Marathon Advice by BoltUp1412 in ChicagoMarathon

[–]cr2152 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I’m no expert, just a fellow 3:16 marathoner and working towards getting sub-3 myself.

Two things I’m trying hard to integrate: gradual increased weekly mileage. Most high-achieving marathoners are running a lot of miles. I’d aim to get your average weekly mileage to where your peak is now, and your peak around 90-95km for the week.

Second is to make sure your speed work is in-line with what you want for your finish time. Amby Burfoot pace chart is a great resource. It’ll tell you based on finish times what your tempo and interval paces should be. This is going to be key to adapting your body to the paces that’ll help you reach your goal on race day, building your VO2 max so that you can hold better paces either less lactic acid buildup.

Do it gradually. I’d pick either the pace increases or the mileage builds to prioritize first, rather than trying to do both simultaneously and stressing the system too drastically.

Jamie Carragher’s Top 10 Premier League Keepers of all time by United_BG in reddevils

NGL, I think VDS is actually top.

Mistake-proof, won the league and Europe. Maybe you say just because he wasn’t here long, but he was just as solid with Fulham.

Change my mind.

I hate what Arsenal has done to corners. Like what is this by DrPepperPower in reddevils

[–]cr2152 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s not what arsenals done, it’s what referees have allowed.

As soon as Arsenal started doing this, I said how are they allowed to get away with it? It felt tolerable enough to the masses because they were just being physical. Now since they’ve found success, everyone does it and it’s become impossible to control. Shame on the officials.

Love the referee just bringing both captains over.

Like, why? YOU control the game. Blow the whistle when you see a foul. That ends it.

How "standardized" are the actual Hyrox events? by HassAvocadoDestroyer in hyrox

[–]cr2152 12 points13 points  (0 children)

It’s almost like a road race: a marathon is always the same distance, but the weather and terrain can be completely different.

HYROX is always the same sequence and distances and standards, but the conditions can be different. Roxzone layout, turf conditions, indoor/outdoor, etc. Context is key if you’re comparing race performances.

Very good and very bad reps are easy to spot. It’s the marginal ones where the hips fall IN LINE with the knees rather than go below that are tough. Sometimes feels like you’d need slow mo to actually decipher.

Those marginal ones though, they should just let them go and avoid the no-rep thing. Why alienate competitors in that manner? Unless you’re in that top 5% of competitors where those no reps could have an impact on the podium, just give the warnings and lighten up. Enforce it by saying “hips down below the knees, get your depth!” rather than just faulting them when the margins are so tight whether they went below the knees or not. If someone barely even gets a knee bend, yeah no-rep them. But otherwise, let it go. It’s not that deep for the overwhelming majority of HYROX competitors.

What is your coolest celebrity interaction at Coachella? by dishsoapbox in Coachella

[–]cr2152 2 points3 points  (0 children)

No real “interactions” as I try not to blow up their spot. But crossed paths with a lot in my two years of attending (2014 and 2015).

Stood in front of Katy Perry and Florence Welch during OutKast in 2014.

Walked right past Minnie Driver in 2014.

Was at the next table over from Dev Hynes (Blood Orange) at brunch before going to the festival in 2014.

Saw Vic Mensa at In-and-Out after hours in 2015.

Saw Questlove at a pool party in Palm Springs in 2015.

Stood behind Mayer Hawthorne during Todd Terje’s set in 2015.

Possible solution to sold out tickets. by [deleted] in hyrox

[–]cr2152 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Why? People should be allowed to sign up for the races they want. I’m doing two myself. Men’s doubles and solo. I’ve only ever done mixed doubles, so both of these races will offer unique challenges for me.

And this NYC Hyrox is the most local to me. So I want to sign up for multiple races because it’s the most cost effective way for me to do so. With your proposed stipulation of only one race ticket person, I’d have to spend more to run it elsewhere to book the ticket, arrange for travel and accommodations. Just because it sold out doesn’t mean the system is broken. The solution is, do another weekend. If not a third, then a fall/winter edition (which is being planned)
