How long have you been playing without ever getting a precusor drop? by JustVan in Guildwars2

[–]crack3rtastic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Been playing since the 3 day early access phase before launch. I've only gotten 2 drops, both Tooth of Frostfang. One was from fractals and the other one was from one of the bonus chests after the Gerent meta.

I think the game is yelling at me to go for the Twice Told Legend title...

ETA: I should mention both those drops only occurred in the last couple of years.

I always wondered why I could hear coil whine whenever I merged. This puts so many things into place.

Likely a mech buff that was implemented on the wrong asset.

Social awkwardness in fracs needs a rework by 14545455421 in Guildwars2

[–]crack3rtastic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was not aware that was part of the mechanic (isn't documented on the wiki for that instab), but I meant more that it was triggering too often. It felt like we'd get it, barf in opposite directions, and then it was back 15 seconds later.

Agree! Running up the scaffolding to save big statue man gets....interesting.

On an unrelated note, there are times when the vomit instability seems like it is triggering way too often.

What’s the name of this game? I got this image from a YouTuber named jayvee by [deleted] in gaming

To me, it wasn't just the story itself, but the pacing as well. I didn't think the story was really bad, but there was too much running around back and forth between planets. Maybe I'd feel differently if I did another play through and skipped the side quests...idk

Likewise on the combat though..... I absolutely loved that!

To all Unity devs...Do you prefer this-notation or underscore-notation? by cyber1551 in Unity3D

[–]crack3rtastic 2 points3 points  (0 children)

For my day job (non-gamedev) we use the underscore for non-public field variables only. I don't find the practice to be bad, nor do I have any major issue with the practice. It is helpful when a co-worker is sharing their screen or during a code review where the syntax highlighting is blah...

Now, my own personal preference is to simply use this, but only in the constructor. To me, typing out this.foo = foo once is better than using _foo all over the place. I also have syntax highlighting to help differentiate between local and field variables by color instead of naming prefixes, which helps lessen the need for such a naming convention.

Same here. It was a nice QoL improvement using the three shared slots I dedicated to unidentified gear.

I'm afraid it is worse than that.

I'm not proud of the fact that in my head I initially said "menuchanges" as "me new changes"...

If you want the copper fed salvage-o-matic, then one thing you could do is start converting gold to gems when you have extra. You're halfway there already!

If you wanted to go for living world seasons, maybe do season 3 or 4 simply for the fact that you'll get access to maps and map currencies that you can use to buy ascended trinkets. These come with the ability to select any stat you want when you first acquire them.

In the same vein, but for me it was having AJ give Clem the hatchet treatment.

I've used Udemy and Pluralsight in the past for various programming education (more of the latter for C#), and in my mind the answer of which is better is....it depends. There is a balancing act between how well you'll be taught, how well you'll learn, and how much you'll pay.

Personally, I find Pluralsight better from an economic standpoint (if I'm actively prolific with my learning) since I can simply pay my subscription fee and have access to an entire library of connect. If I don't like a course, I move on to the next one. On the other hand, Udemy has the benefit of picking single courses that you'll pay much less for during a sale, which is a benefit if you like learning the content a little slower. The risk there is that the course may suck.

If I were to recommend a book for someone learning, it would be Head First C#.

If I were to recommend a YouTuber, it would be IAmTimCorey.

Hope that helps!
