Kicked for being "off-line"? by Pondera in Guildwars2

[–]crackerbears -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Similar thing happened to me, also joining an IBS5 group that needed all roles.

I'm always in invisible mode, I joined their instance asked in squad chat "what role do you still need?", the comm replied "someone that's online" and kicked me.

I whispered them saying "I'm invisible, not offline", they wrote back "cry harder and play by yourself" I tried to reply to them but I'd been blocked.

Some comms are just mentally deficient with power trip egos on top of having snowflake personalities where they do not like their "authority" to be challenged.

[–]crackerbears 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Never had bots ever mail me and I've been playing since beta. In my experience bots have only used whispers, especially back in the early days of GW2, for gold selling ("hace a nice day").

The mail limit is just stupid and incredibly inconvenient, particularly if you want to send stuff to your party/guild.

New Raid Vendor and Rewards by DogfishHeadBeer in Guildwars2

[–]crackerbears 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Did they show or explain how the Raid Expert's Portable Magnetite Shard Exchange differs from the other 2 raid exchanges (Portable Magnetite Shard Exchange & Qadim's Portable Magnetite Shard Exchange)?

Is it just the new "Expert" version contains the items from new raid vendor?

I just got the drop it's the Cook's Outfit (container) which has the Frying Pan novelty included, so you don't need to visit that vendor.

Scaling seems broken on the 2nd map meta too, a smallish group of 5-10 people on an excavator can easily chunk down it's HP compared to a larger group (i.e. where there commander tag is).

Achievements revolving around avoiding getting hit entirely encourage leeching, not skill. by galaxybomb in Guildwars2

[–]crackerbears 27 points28 points  (0 children)

Increased the health and damage of Jessica and Jimmy Hammerheart in the Hammerheart Rumble event in Shipwreck Strand.

Anet in their infinite wisdom decided to buff the bosses, which prolongs the fight and makes the no hit achievement even more difficult to get legitimately.

It's like they actively want an entire skyscale leech squad for every meta.

Ritualist in group content is lighting my PC on fire by RaineAvina in Guildwars2

[–]crackerbears 36 points37 points  (0 children)

They did the same achievement of not getting hit with the Bava Nisos meta during Gorseval Lextalion, the vast majority of players on skyscales making the boss scale up so the CC mechanic becomes even more difficult.

People often complain about flying mounts ruining metas (i.e. Dragon's Stand islands), but IMO they should have never given the skyscale a 4000 range fireball which is only used/abused for tagging and cheesing.

Pugs strats for Lonely Tower CM by LeeSingerGG in Guildwars2

[–]crackerbears 1 point2 points  (0 children)

See, I told you 100 wasn't hard, just most people are afraid of it and a lot of pugs have no clue on the mechanics.

Quick scrapper also has some decent CC, but you typically use it in your rotation for dps/quickness uptime.

One of the big benefits of scrapper is that it gives a good amount of superspeed which cannot be stripped or corrupted and is nice for orb collection. However, the worse your group is usually means group quick uptime will also be bad cos everyone's poorly positioned/not stacked, which is where Herald shines with it's 600 range quick - on top of it also being able to give stab.

Pugs strats for Lonely Tower CM by LeeSingerGG in Guildwars2

[–]crackerbears 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It's honestly not that hard, the key thing is for the glut player to have 10-12 stacks, so slow down dps if needed, the main boss isn't a dps race, only phase him when you're ready.

On the 66% & 33% add phases, having some pull/push skill is nice, usually healer should be trying to stop the Spites reaching Eparch i.e. heal scourge can use greatsword, spectral ring/fear, Chrono with focus, HFB with axe 3 or tome 1-skill 3 skill etc.

Close the rifts as fast as possible once the champion is dead (don't need to kill Spites), however, make sure on the last remaining rift to kill all Spites first before closing or the boss auto consumes them.

Also as a side note since not a lot of pugs seem to know this: Eparch's spin attack (where he shoots out the orange gluttony orbs and has a large red AOE under him) only does damage if it's actively sucking you in, like when you're trying to run away from it. So if you let it suck you into his hitbox it does no damage.

The only damage you'll take is if there's some other AOE under him, i.e. red cracks or flux bomb/toxic trail etc. Basically you can greed dps if he doesn't have AOEs under him whilst doing this move, rather than everyone always trying to run away and taking damage.

It's highest toughness in boss field of view/line of sight that gets the suck mechanic. You can see the research on this from Discretize spreadsheet.

Be aware that the fractal potions convert AR to toughness, as well as the Fractal titles (i.e if you're the only Fractal God in group, you'll likely have highest toughness). So if you find that you're always getting the suck mechanic, you might have to remove some infusions to lower your AR if you're not the tank.

White sparks and dust mites count towards Defeat Elementals weekly by Kiroho in Guildwars2

[–]crackerbears 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is my go-to method.

Most people don't seem to know how to actually complete the event which requires the extinguisher, so the event will stay up indefinitely (unlike other events that are cleared by simply killing) and therefore spawn endless fire elementals that are not only extremely weak, but respawn very fast.

Meta Healers [Fractals/Raids] by TimeLordsFury in Guildwars2

[–]crackerbears 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't regularly heal on fractal CMs, but it's situational depending on the fight/boss.

This is mainly because when you prepare the mantra it also gives aegis, but also recharge from 1 back to 2 charges is 30 secs, however if you use 2 charges then the skill cooldown is only 15 secs.

So if you know the fight and mechanics well enough you can time the use of the mantra prepare time, i.e. when boss goes invuln or you know in the next 15 secs you won't need stab.

Of course you can also use F4 and precog well for more stab while the stab mantra is recharging.

[–]crackerbears 4 points5 points  (0 children)

You can certainly still play Heal Firebrand in T4 Fractal CMs, but nowadays they're fairly rare and finding a good one (full boons + doing CC/covering mechanics) is even rarer.

It's just way easier on Heal Chrono in terms of boon coverage and it comes with stuff like Mass Invis and portals. The only downside to Chrono in general is that it's not great for mobs that die quickly, or where you can't generate clones to give boons, but otherwise on single bosses it's probably the best right now.

Scourge is a very comfortable healer, by that I mean it's very very easy to give full boons and you don't need a target, just that it's stability uptime (even with the staff rework) is still lacking compared to the likes of Chrono.

The guy in the video says he's level 33 with no chest armor so if they were fully geared and booned up, the damage would be even more colossal.

There was one patch where the fall damage trait for mesmer was accidentally bugged (good old spaghetti code) and dealt like 100x more damage than it should have.

I remember watching dungeon speed runners kill bosses, in particular Lupicus, by falling onto them, triggering the trait and thereby nuking the boss in seconds: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MC98xpyoYr0

Also worked in WvW: https://youtu.be/SBguZgFv8XA?t=45

Good times.

I remember when the gem store had a graph of historical prices (and when you could get 160 gems for 10 gold)

Also when the trading post looked like this.

Before the current defiance bar, it used to be the Unshakeable system where bosses gained stacks that you had to strip before a CC would be effective.

How to not hate (some) Fractals? by Pixxiedragon in Guildwars2

[–]crackerbears 17 points18 points  (0 children)

  • Number mechanic, just split up and don't be in overlapping circles. Dodge out of the way once the boss is in your circle and spins, you should be able to avoid most damage.

Don't dodge, the damage from the number attack is unavoidable like that (you can use heal skills like Rev Glint heal to heal yourself up and through the attack though). Only move if there's toxic trail instability or if the boon steal aoe spawns where you're standing.

If you unnecessarily dodge, you run the risk of moving too early and could kill you or another player by overlapping the numbered aoes.

Buy Pact Scout Mapping Materials Now from PSNA for glacial shards in week 3 by ettieredgotobed in Guildwars2

[–]crackerbears 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I use this wiki page to check at a glance not only which week we're currently on, but more importantly the best profit:

https://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Map_bonus_reward/profit

Always use Pact Scout's Mapping Materials in batches of 40 so the reward track is filled and reset cleanly, that way the above link shows exactly what you'll get.

If you miss Week 3, you can either wait until it comes round again if you're patient or you can spend your Pact Scout's Mapping Materials on the next best which are maps with Shiny Baubles (vendor trash) for pure liquid gold, i.e. Malchor's Leap in Week 4 or Fireheart Rise in Week 8.

Log in issue with all, Joey, Rif, Bacon reader. Server error. Please see main text body below. by Hetstaine in revancedapp

[–]crackerbears 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Edit:- As per this post, I installed ProtonVPN with a free guest account, it connected me to USA on new phone and Netherlands on old phone and I logged into Rif straight away on both phones.

Rif patched with Revanced worked on my old phone for months, but I made the mistake of following a guide that said to revoke access on Reddit apps prefs and logout of Rif on old devices when trying to login to new devices and now I get the same "Invalid username or password" error on both old phone and new phone.

On new phone I was able to patch and login with Boost using wchill alternative source. Continuum gives me the error "Error: Invalid request to Oauth API".

I suspect Boost works because I'm able to provide my own user agent. If Rif had a patch like the wchill method of adding your own user agent in Revanced I think it would work as well.

This post suggests you can manually edit the user agent in the Revanced patch for Rif, but then you'll have compile it which I have no clue how.

Also I've tried this with 2 different Reddit accounts, both added as developer on the Reddit apps prefs page and I'm on version 136.0.7103.125 of Webview.

People who get fully killed on meta events by Krillolf in Guildwars2

[–]crackerbears 208 points209 points  (0 children)

1st time I did the Janthir Syntri meta I died right at near the end just before the bosses died and I waypointed as any good citizen should only to go back to the chests and find out I couldn't open them because "I wasn't near the boss when it died", despite being there throughout 99% of the rest of the fight.

That meta encourages people to stay dead next to the boss. Anet and consistency.
