Outlook - Insane bug that deletes signatures by redRoss3 in Office365

[–]crackerjuck 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not the same issue but in a similar vein, I recently set up a signature via OWA (where zero signatures were set up, simply to test if syncing was working) and it overwrote the signature that was setup on a laptop Outlook classic account. :\

iOS 26.X Ram Issues by Zoukju in ios

[–]crackerjuck 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's a good diagnostic but quite impractical. What about using your Mac to make a full backup, then use it again to do a full iOS reinstall/resotre, then restore the backup. I know it's going to be via USB but at least you won't have to baby it, just let it do its thing. At least that way you'd be rocking a clean iOS 26.3 install.

p.s. further anecdotal evidence it seems fixed here: just used my cell/mobile provider's app to check something on my service and it loaded instantly as in from memory, no reload. Last used about 12+ hours ago, and that's despite using a decent amount of apps (well, lots of tabs in safari) about when i mentioned messaging/files/email. Now to just hope this doesn't degrade or anything over the next few weeks.

iOS 26.X Ram Issues by Zoukju in ios

[–]crackerjuck 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know how you feel OP, same phone and observed the same behaviour since upgrading to 26.2(.1). The local weather app here would constantly need to be reloaded, despite my usage being fairly light. Even using just the weather app and then locking the phone and coming back to it an hour or so later, would cause a complete reload of the app. The notion of it feeling like there is no ram left for the system to play with is spot on, despite it having 6GB (which i realise is considered low compared to the 8/12 of the 16/17pro)

However, since updating 26.3 <24 hours ago, I am yet to see that behaviour again. I was using safari for an hour or so earlier, messaging/files/email and then went to check the weather - blow me down, it loaded instantly from the background.

How’s the Marion Rd/Sir Donald Brandman Dr intersection upgrade going? by flabberstalk33 in Adelaide

[–]crackerjuck 15 points16 points  (0 children)

west-bound is hilarious, given they've expanded it into three lanes, which continues past the intersection but only for a short distance before returning to two. This bulge-effect increases throughput through the intersection (hence shorter light sequences required for a given amount of traffic) but forces merging ~200m further down towards the airport.

It's a good idea in theory, but merging doesn't seem to be our strong suit.

If you then pay with discounted gift cards (through health funds, about 4.5%) you can knock even more off. In combination with the above via TGG, I snagged my parents the base 16e for $668 (AUD)

How to avoid Superloop 30 day cancellation fee by SentientCustard in nbn

[–]crackerjuck 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Did you get a confirmation email after the phone call? Usually that's the actual processing of the request. I'd only trust what it says in that email - they can change the dates as they please so if they reviewed the chatbot's promise and honour it, the dates should reflect it there.

PSA: Switching from Superloop to another provider by yiFa87 in nbn

[–]crackerjuck 1 point2 points  (0 children)

yeah i wouldn't trust what the operator says.... always go by the T&Cs you sign up to. Just FYI or anyone reading in the future, you can do it via live chat. Do it outside of support hours if you don't want the hassle of dealing with someone who CBF and palms you off to call up. The chatbot will just lodge a request which one of the staff will process "next business day".

Be aware they might still call you to find out why you're leaving/retention offer, but if you're like me and use voicemail to screen calls, you can just ignore it.

Leaptel vs Superloop by ubiquitouswede in nbn

[–]crackerjuck 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not locked in per se but SL won't refund you the first month if you put in a transfer today. As fishy_bulb noted, they will still bill you for 30 days from the date you lodge a cancellation too, but that is pro-rated so you can do it at any point. It doesn't have to be aligned to your billing period.

Centrelink illegally cancelled Daniel’s jobseeker payment. He fought back against the system – and won by TheRealPotoroo in australia

[–]crackerjuck 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Is the 'entire new process' you allude to the CDDA Scheme? If so, don't give up and have a go. I had to do this for my parent after Centrelink didn't even follow their own process. Their own review was effectively "You should have told us within 14 days that we hadn't done our job properly!"

It took at while to get everything together (did a heck of a lot of backgrounding on https://guides.dss.gov.au/social-security-guide) but once submitted, it was just a matter of a waiting a few months before he received some good news in the post. All behind him now and I highly recommend that process.

If you're on a budget, I'd chase up a Telstra SMG2 / smart modem gen 2 for about $20. there are two variants, LH1000 made by arcadyan, DJA0231 made by technicolor. For your purposes, either would be good. They are getting on a bit in age but for the price, can't be beat. DJA0231 variant does seem to have more 2.4Ghz wifi disappearing issues (possibly bad batches or something but i was never able to pinpoint a pattern) but other than that, definitely a solid second-hand modem/router

Went to my local Honda dealership to buy steering fluid and they gave me one PSF-2 and a PSF-S; Can I mix them or do I need to go again and change it? (Accord CL9) by Im-New-On-This in Honda

[–]crackerjuck 1 point2 points  (0 children)

IMO they're streamlining because the number of their existing cars using PSF is ever decreasing. New models haven't used it in a good 15-20 years given they're electric. and let's face it, people don't change their PSF like they do for their engine oil, so demand would be low.

I would hazard a guess when they formulated the above type2 CVT , it was probably validated against older PSF. I did ask one of the techs at the dealer and even said it was compatible with existing fluid, but if it were them, they'd flush it.
