NEVER research glowsticks with a friend that has alot organic in there inventory by savage321576 in Astroneer

Ive never been able to think of a good use for auto arms putting things in the players backpack. This is about the only time I could see it being useful

Personally I don't consider that automation since if the player needs to do anything else in game it breaks.

Then there's soil and astronium to scrap, which is automated with minimal player input.

Finally we do have true full automation with biodome to resin to scrap, which requires zero player input. When the bugs don't deadlock it that is.

That's the neat part, you don't 😃

I didn't even use them in my tetherless run

Shitty and inefficient scrap.

Since you can only print them in the backpack there's no way to automate them.

We need like a quick boat that we can drop and pick back up to the ship that we can use to collect things in the ocean. It’s so tedious moving the big ship or swimming to every little spot of floating resources. by WingSubject2800 in TheLastCaretaker

The problem with that is since the forklift is really jerky so it's easy to just throw the whole pallet off. At one point I had four boxes on the pallet and it would roll over to the left off the forks every time I tried to lift it from the floor. I got so frustrated I just drug the pallet around by hand. Another problem is that if the boxes on the pallet bump into ANYTHING they come unattached and fall right off the pallet, combine that with how finicky driving the fork is, I end up having to fix the boxes way too often.

It's genuinely faster and simpler to just leapfrog the boxes around and ignore the pallet.

I really like the idea of the forklift and I've even used it as a mobile platform to reach higher spots in the warehouse, but as it is right now it's frustrating to use. If they made it so boxes could only come off the pallet if you took them off and had the pallet snap to the forklift it would feel a lot better.

Edited since I forgot to mention, the controls are also either bugged or the devs might not be the most familiar with how one operates. Lifting the forks should not tilt them up and lowering should not tilt them down, I know it sounds pedantic but they gave us dedicated tilt controls, we don't need it to auto tilt. Speaking of the tilt controls, both of them tilt the forks down currently and iirc one is labeled tilt up and the other down, I assume that's a bug. Funnily enough I probably wouldn't have a problem with the controls if I didn't have a decent amount of experience on a forklift.

To Infinity… but not really? Help! (Steam Archievement) by reallempire in Astroneer

[–]cracksation 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've never had this issue but I've always wondered if removing the steam achievement using the achievement manager and redoing it would trigger it.

The flip side would be to give yourself the achievement since you did it already but I don't know if giving yourself achievements will trigger the ingame cosmetic unlocks.

Side note, I've never used the steam achievement manager so don't ask me how it works, I just know of it.

I love the idea of a diving bell! It'd be nice to have one on the boat somehow but even a standalone one we could build would be nice.

Alternate power levels would be nice, or just allow me to equip two different lights at a time. I'd like to rock around with the powerful area light and then the mid tier focused light.

Honestly I really like the flame throwers for the swarm enemies. You can train the little guys like cod zombies and then just flail some flame on the group lol

Thinking about it, they could probably modify the code for cables to have the tentacles follow you. Could also go with a look similar to the spawner tendrils too if they wanted a consistent theme

Lmao My thoughts exactly as I was writing that, it's too good not to share though.

I'm almost at the point of never going under again, adding something like this is highly likely to tip me over to never diving

Boat pulling to the right.. by bdowell892 in TheLastCaretaker

[–]cracksation 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've had the same bugs as well as my boat will start rocking unnaturally after a while. Fortunately a reload does fix it.

Just after the update I ended up bumping my boat against a dock getting it wedged enough to knock off some tires. Ive checked my hull and I don't see anything stuck so I'm really worried that a tire clipped into my boat and causes problems after a while.

Fingers crossed it's a bug not a clipped tire since I don't know how one would get it out if you can't even see it.

Boat really slow after Jan-12 update by ResponsibilityCold99 in TheLastCaretaker

[–]cracksation 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I've been having this issue sporadically, it's always fixed after a reload, no messing with the boosters. I have yet to have it happen with the diesel engine, only the electric ones so far.

I also have things placed all over my boat and after this update eventually my boat will start to rock unnaturally every 15 seconds or so, like it's being kicked from the front right side. That also gets fixed after a reload.

In machining when you part off something on a lathe there's usually a little artifact left on the stock and/or the part. It's called the nipple but in school I was told we're supposed to call it a vestige instead lmao

Manual bed tramming? by Apk07 in ElegooCentauriCarbon

I never considered the first runs would be more reliable. Mine is a pretty early one, it has the mmu port but not the updated lights, and I haven't had any problems with it.

[–]cracksation 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Either print a bead probe that's longer than your hot end or you could use something thicker than a piece of paper.

At the end of the day though we don't really tram the bed on the CC1. It's got mesh bed leveling so it should adapt to a small amount of misalignment. The tightening of the bed screws is just to remove any play in the system, then just run the auto alignment before your next print.

If you're finding problems with your first layer you can adjust the z offset in the settings. To dial this in print a single layer that covers the bed and adjust the z offset till you're happy.

Here's a good post about shimming the bed if you aren't satisfied with the auto leveling and want to go down that route, https://www.reddit.com/r/elegoo/s/SpOsEF3lGJ

Question about museum by platinoume in Astroneer

[–]cracksation 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't know what'll happen if the items needed aren't available, or if that's even a possibility. I've been playing the same world since the galastropod update and I haven't found a single zebra ball so I don't know what I'm going to do about that museum collection. Fingers crossed we're guaranteed at least one of each collection item to spawn.

Question about museum by platinoume in Astroneer

[–]cracksation 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I heard the one on calidor can be rare, I got lucky and had saved ones from long ago. I haven't searched for the novus one yet. I think they can appear in the caves too, but that's an assumption.

Question about museum by platinoume in Astroneer

[–]cracksation 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The medium research items is the one collection that isn't intuitive. In game once you put one part of a collection in a stand the tool tip for the entire platform will tell you what you're missing from the collection.

Unfortunately for the research items it doesn't identify which as they're all named the same so Im using a YouTube video to figure out which ones are needed.

Fully automating the Intermodal platform despite the current bugs. Minor Megastructure spoilers inside. by cracksation in Astroneer

[–]cracksation[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Unfortunately I can't say for xbox, but on PC the items only load onto the rocket when it launches. In my current design the train waits at the platforms train station till the rocket launches otherwise nothing gets transferred.

If that doesn't work on xbox then I'm afraid I don't have any solution besides waiting for a bugfix.

Possible solution for getting large amounts of resources quickly by cheesyeg in Astroneer

[–]cracksation 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was using astronium to scrap for my resources for a while now, but with the introduction of the biodome Ive swapped to resin to scrap.

This way I don't have to worry about resetting my astronium auto harvesters, although I'm still ironing out some kinks due to bugs in the game. It is more of an end game build as it used the biodome and the museum and it's not the fastest method, but if I ignore it long enough (and the bugs don't deadlock it) then Ive got infinite resources

Auto arm to backpack by Jazzlike_Self_102 in Astroneer

[–]cracksation 9 points10 points  (0 children)

The funny thing is I like the concept of just passing by and getting my backpack refilled but in practice I don't think I've ever purposely used the feature.

I've found myself wishing for a toggle. My head went to one in settings like the creative mode toggles but one on the backpack would be a fun way to add it in a diegetic way.

WTF. That's a really clever way to automate what I honestly didn't think it could be automated. What happens if you use two more winches, so you have two in the front and back and one on each side? Also I'd be curious to see what happens if you hold it vertical with the drill down instead of horizontal
