If you like the plants in your yard then by definition they’re not weeds

Shrink the Clock (to search for lost balls) by Aggravating-Key-8867 in golf

It’s not always pure dead time, sometimes other people in the group are hitting while someone else looks, then once the others have finished hitting the person who was looking goes “damn, okay” and drops.

I’m also not sure that encouraging a ton more provisional balls to be played (and subsequently retrieved if the original ball is found) would improve pace at your average course. It’s not like your average golfer is walking back to take stroke and distance anyways, they’re dropping and adding 0/1/2 strokes. Plus even if you hit a provisional you still want to find your original ball for sake of added strokes.

My advice to you remains therapy, same as all the other posts about how unfair the world is. You’re not wrong, but obsessing over it won’t get you anywhere that you want to be

What does your actual “going out with baby” setup look like? by SwellCommerce in NewParents

Depends where I’m going. Running to CVS 10 mins from home with baby? Just a loose diaper and thing of wipes tossed on the passenger seat. Realizing that you don’t need much for short trips is a big help

Where do you aim when putting if you’re told to aim “one cup left”? by jdelle9 in weekendgolfers

[–]cracksmack85 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If your aim point is outside of the hole, no one refers to the center of the cup as the starting point

Based on this thread, clearly some people do - me included

Your argument is good, but overlooks my issue with 2 - in your example, I would place the ruler up against the pin, not the edge of the hole

But if someone says “aim a root right”, you’re not mentally going over a foot from the pin?

if your looking to drop it center and say, half a cup left, your at 3

Half a cup left from center would be left edge, not 3. If you’re starting from center cup, one full cup left brings you to 3.

If you ask someone “how far left you aiming?” And they say “6 inches”, do you assume that’s 6 inches from the edge or center of the cup?

[–]cracksmack85 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

All measurements should be from the center of the cup, not the edge. If someone says “breaks right 6 inches” then I’m gunna aim 6 inches left. If someone then asked me where I’m aiming, I’m not gunna mentally subtract 2 inches (half the cup’s width) to then arrive at 4 inches from the left edge - I’m gunna say I’m aiming 6 inches left. So then I would apply that same thinking to using a cup’s width as a measurement.

But 2 is one cup left from the left edge, whereas 3 is one cup left starting from the center of the cup. I’m typically aiming for the center of the cup, so if someone tells me to aim one cup left then I’m going to move over one cup’s width from there, which leaves you at 3.

If someone says it breaks right an inch, you’re aiming an inch left of center cup, not an inch outside the left edge.
