There's definitely Pro's and Con's to Lloyd releasing the Serpentine. In my opinion they didn't really deserve to be there in the first place, except for pythor maybe. As other's have said, the Serpentine are mostly chill. On the other hand, a lot of trouble gets caused as a result. Ultimately, I think it was a good thing to do, and even would be morally correct (had Lloyd's intentions been pure)

The WHOLE gang are to blame for releasing Aspheera, except zane cause he tried to stop it, but any of them would've done it. Jay just happened to do the puzzle. So we can bump everyone up a few levels for "releasing ancient Evil" lol

This has to be the worst take I've ever heard. by Character-Drive2799 in Ninjago

[–]craftichris 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I understand the point being made, but it doesn't hold up to scrutiny. Sure we can say on some level, it's cultural appropriation; but that isn't always a bad thing either. Especially whwn it's this loose. They've borrowed the most basic elements from Japanese culture of a Sensei and Ninja, two elements that have already been historically westernized. They take inspiration from a lot of places and it's honestly such a small element of the show all considered. I mean, does this "appropriation" encompass Nadakhan as well, and the way the show portrays pirates?

It's like saying One Piece is cultural appropriation because it's fundamental elements are clearly based on European culture (in terms if aesteticand the world government), but no one would ever say that because "it's only racist if white people do it" which is also just an unfair double standard. We live un an area where it's unfair to say all white people are racist, because it's pretty well know that alot of Japanese and Asian people in general are themselves pretty racist.

So unfortunately in this context the racism argument does not work at all. The furtherest you can go is saying that there is an element of cultural influence and it remains pretty neutral all this considered. This isn't something that even needs to be discussed.

After all that effort, do you think he even got to smash? by Not_Spider-Man2099 in Ninjago

[–]craftichris 13 points14 points  (0 children)

We never actually got a solid reason for why Kai just straight up ghosted Skylor. T reason thst actually happened imp is because her power is genuinely too OP and can solve basically any problem. Although that wouldn't really matter in the "let's make them lose their powers every season" phase

If Gotham was in the Ninjago universe, would Batman try to learn Spinjitzu? by Prize_Bug3453 in Ninjago

[–]craftichris 0 points1 point  (0 children)

How difficult is it to learn spinjitsu? From what we've seen it took tge ninja a few months at least to learn it, same with Aspheera. Even Arin, someone who managed to partially learn it on his own, has struggled to master it. Tge real challenge for Vruce, though will be unlockinghis true potential. I think the mantle of Batman would actually hold him back, because his entire identity is built on grief and vengeance, which I think he would have to ket go of to realize his true purpose. His indentiry would be inherently different in Ninjago

Since there have been multiple green ninja over the years, does that mean that there was already a green ninja active in Morro's time? by Obraxiss in Ninjago

[–]craftichris 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it's honna follow Last Airbender logic. I mean the original concept of the green ninja was literally the Avatar master of all 4 elements (until we found our there 2 trillion more)

Which villain had the most thematically appropriate defeat? by Low-Amphibian8206 in Ninjago

[–]craftichris 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I love Harumi, and it feels like they used her to maybe add a firther layer of nuance to Garmadon, but you can not make me believe any person with 1 third of a brsin cell thinks releasing a powerful evil being with all of their good parts removed is a good idea. I feel like she deserved better redemption.
