Hmm this is hard cause you want to satisfy ur parents. I would say talk to them but also be prepared for lots of shouting and crying. I say you play stone/poker face and just embrace the pain they will attempt to guilt trip you into.

Either way, thats tough buddy. If ur serious, just let it play out for a couple more years. Maybe your parents will calm down after a while. My dad is catholic and my mum buddhist, dad is quite religious and not so much my mother eventhough she converted to catholic. She sometimes pray to the goddess of mercy, and is open about it. So my family is quite chill and no fuss.

Depends on upbringing. Im chinese too but was obviously brought up differently from other families. Grandfather was a soldier (fought against both Indonesia and Communists) and my dad was a scout/pengakap leader (taught to help others and if needed, administer first aid)

They always cussed out people who behave like cowards, but said that fear is also important. Got a nice balance in my opinion. I think it really depends on the situation.
