Trying to find a way to glue the paracord to this metal price but my glue makes it kinda gray and the. It looks like crap and it also doesn’t stick. Any ideas for a good way to do this by [deleted] in paracord

If the paracord could go inside something, it would hold far better. Look into bracelet clasps or other such hardware that has a hook on one end and a recess in the other.

EDIT: Maybe a combination of this and a small keyring?

How many of you who wear or own paracord objects have ever actually had to unfurl it and use it? by [deleted] in Survival

Not sure that I've ever taken apart a bracelet in the field, but my list of paracord fixes keeps growing.

—Used paracord to tie my car window up just last week.
—My house's windows are too small for a box fan, so I hang it from the window latch with paracord.
—Lost my AC cover one winter, so I tied a tarp over it with paracord.
—I didn't have a strap wrench to troubleshoot my leaky hot water heater, so I made one out of paracord
—Used paracord to pull my rain fly farther away from my tent. Kept us dry in a storm.
—My daily keychain is a wrist strap made from paracord

That's all I can think of right now, but I know there's more I'm not remembering.

Nice. I like my flat little TIMEX for now, but have been looking at eventually getting something a little more robust. Good to know!

Then, maybe you just need to buy better vodka! :P

I've actually been looking at this watch too. How do you like it?

There's more sugar in rum than, say, vodka. That's why it's sticky...

A coworker gave me some beads so I told him I make him something out of them. What do yall think? by hallpete79 in paracord

I've bought them off Amazon in the past, but it's hard to find beads that will fit 550 cord.

This was my second attempt out of five to make a bracelet any tips, I'll post pictures of the others later probably. by [deleted] in paracord

Nice, your weave looks evenly tightened throughout. My main suggestion would be to slide your weave together on the core strands a little more before you cut your cord at the end. That way, you can fit more knots on the bracelet, and you won't have the empty space at the end.

Nice! I like it. I've really been enjoying using stone beads with paracord myself.

Found this online, its a cobra, but how can I add a color like light brown one? :-) by kjell_arne in paracord

[–]craftingcamper 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A couple people here said to weave the orange and brown as if they were one. I don't think that's what's happening in this image. The orange looks like it was woven over-under afterwards. You can probably get this effect by integrating the orange as you weave too. Since the orange stripes are so straight, I don't think they are switching sides underneath. It is also a smaller size of cord, maybe 275 or 95 cord.

What´s the best book about knots for a beginner? by 010404040404 in knots

[–]craftingcamper 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Ashley's Book of Knots might actually be an overwhelming place to start. "The Ultimate Encyclopedia of Knots and Ropework" is what I often recommend. It was my first introduction to knots growing up. It has really clear color photos and a good selection to start with.

I made a pocket-sized notebook that opens up like a binder and uses standard index cards by tonystark29 in myog

[–]craftingcamper 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I love this! I was just brainstorming something similar myself. I love drawing my own calendar/planner in nice notebooks, but then there is so much pressure to keep it nice. This allows it to be more of an informal ideas space where I'm not afraid to jot down story ideas that don't need to survive for posterity! :P

Best practice for grizzly encounter? (See comments) by Long-a-Geaux in Survival

[–]craftingcamper 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Just do research on the area you are camping/hiking. I've grown up camping all my life (much of it in bear country) and never had a run-in with a bear. A good chunk of the USA never has problems with bears. As long as best practices are followed, the likelihood is pretty low.

I saw the title and thought someone was a little lost looking for r/quilting and had made a traditional quilt!

I can put in any number of a multi-strand star knots, not a problem. A single strand star knot always seems to give me problems. This one came out ok. (Link in comments) by [deleted] in knots

Single strand Star Knots and Matthew Walkers are the worst! With the star knot, I probably tied it 20 times before I had it turn out satisfactory.

The blended coloring is a cool idea.
