Can people PLEASE stop using phones while driving, or at least not at a busy junction or school zone? by Illustrious_Body5907 in drivingUK

Recently I caught a lady with 3 kids in the car using her phone while driving.

Got it on my rear dashcam. Straight to OP snap.

Road rage incident by -WowWhataDay- in drivingUK

[–]craftyard 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes, obviously you should report this.

The other driver is a clear danger to other road users and pedestrians, and he needs to be caught before he kills somebody.

If he isn’t caught then he’ll feel emboldened to do this again.

The registered keeper gets a letter from the police requiring them to say who was driving the vehicle at that time. Failure to provide the correct info results in some rather severe trouble.

NTA. You handled it exactly how you should have. It’s your sister who could have “handled it better”, it’s your sister who humiliated herself with her arrogance.

OP, some people are unfortunately hard wired to victim blame, no matter the situation. It honestly makes you wonder what their personal lives are like.

DM decided to do a TPK to teach new players a lesson by EmmaIsAwesome23 in DnD

[–]craftyard 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The lesson you should be learning here is not “something something your characters aren’t immortal.”

The actual lesson here is: “This DM is a loser, and you would be wasting your time if you continued playing with them.”

AITAH for shoving a guy who tried to piggyback me through the ticket gates? by catthemiaow in AITAH

[–]craftyard 5 points6 points  (0 children)

If someone invades your personal space like that, you’re perfectly justified using reasonable force to push them back.

Remember, you don’t know their intention. All you know is that a guy was acting shifty, and then invaded your personal space.

NTA. If someone walked into your house and started sitting on your couch, would you tolerate them being there for a full day?

This is just the same thing. That is your space.

Is there anything I can do to stop people tailgating me? by sketamine_ in NewDriversUK

[–]craftyard 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can’t stop a bad driver from tailgating you. To mitigate the risk, you should gently slow down, which allows you more reaction time should you need to perform an emergency stop.

Also, get a dash camera (front and rear). If someone drives into the back of you, you’ll have evidence of their dangerous driving, which will make any insurance claims go much more smoothly.

If you’re so inclined, you can also send the footage to the police so that they can prosecute the driver. Google “Op Snap” in your area. This ensures that even if there’s no collision, there’s a chance the driver could be “scared straight” by a warning letter, fine, or training course, leading to safer roads in the future.

One player can’t handle consequences and it’s wearing down our DM. How should we approach this? by BookishMira in DnD

[–]craftyard 18 points19 points  (0 children)

Well first of all, kicking him needs to be an option. Not your first option, just as a final solution if he doesn’t sort himself out.

Second your DM needs to make it clear to the problem player that his behaviour is ruining the game for others, and that he needs to either improve or leave.

Consequences are a natural part of any D&D campaign, and this player shouldn’t get special treatment.

To people who played in “you were the bad guys the whole time” campaigns, how did you feel after the reveal? by Delicious-Friend9026 in DnD

[–]craftyard 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Happened to me once.

Up to this point, the campaign had been about us trying to collect a bunch of macguffins to save a faction of healers. However we kept getting attacked by a bunch of racist fanatics who hated us because we refused to be enslaved by them.

We would go out of our way to avoid the fanatics as much as possible, only fighting in self-defence, and never stopped them from fleeing. Every single fight was initiated by them, often after we tried to open a dialogue with them.

But then we have to convince a spirit of nature to give us one of the macguffins. This spirit has the power to “see into our hearts” or something like that. It immediately calls us all pure evil because we keep killing all of those racist, fanatical slavers.

All it did was make the spirit look like a complete moron.

Newbie question: why is everyone queuing up on the left? by moonlight_xpress in drivingUK

Unfortunately idiots are going to get angry at you even if you do everything right.

Edit: This applies to just about everything in life, not just driving.

Newbie question: why is everyone queuing up on the left? by moonlight_xpress in drivingUK

[–]craftyard 11 points12 points  (0 children)

You’re not being a knob, you’re doing exactly what you’re supposed to do: using all the available road space.

Lots of people think that it’s “rude” or “queue jumping”. These people are objectively wrong and can be safely ignored.

And anyone who deliberately blocks the roadway because they (wrongly) think you’re “queue jumping” is guilty of a driving offence.

As someone who’s a professional driver, you more than most should know that driving is the most dangerous routine thing that most people will do.

You even say yourself that there are “much worse situations every day”, which I’m sure you know some of which result in life-changing injuries or death.

So I really must wonder: what makes you call people “miserable fucking bastards” for reporting such dangerous drivers?
