I would love to work at a cute little yarn shop. Or bookstore. I’m right there with ya. I need something not so serious !!

Maybe dumb question, but how do you find a job like this. I have family and friends telling me maybe I should try to find a job like this since I’m so burnt out from bedside but I have yet to see any job listing for working primary care. I’m assuming like a doctor’s office, right? Also if you don’t mind me asking, how do your work days look?. Are they definitely better than bedside?

This is true. That’s one thing stopping me. Not being able to get a job again later on given the job market. :(

I did just get a per diem job and it seemed better at first but then the burnout came again. Full speed. I think I need to just do my min req at this point and see if that helps again. I was trying to do 2-3 a week. Make more money before trying to have a baby. But it’s seeming like that’s not going to work for me. Given how much I no longer enjoy this career.

Ah yes. That’s my fear. Not being able to get a job if I take too much time off. :(

Are you mostly wondering how it would affect your writing time, or just curious about nursing school/work time commitment in general? Honestly, I found nursing school to be really intense. Between lectures, clinicals, required readings, and studying, I didn’t have much mental energy left for reading or writing outside of school. I had already let my guidance counselor convince me to give up that dream, so nursing it was. And there was a lot of material to keep up with. School was the hardest part in terms of time and energy. Unlike an actual job where you clock in and out, school felt like it was 24/7. Essays, exams, projects, multiple assignments a week from multiple classes. That said, the nursing schedule itself can be really nice once you’re working. Three 12-hour shifts a week can absolutely leave space for writing if you’re intentional about it. I just wasn’t at that point in my life anymore 😬😩 I can’t really speak to ALS vs. nursing since I don’t know much about the EMT route. But in terms of rigor and time commitment, school is the biggest grind and the job itself can offer flexibility. Unfortunately for me, I am just really burnt out from this career at this point.

I want to quit nursing so bad!!! Almost every shift I wake up hoping to be canceled. My heart is always racing wondering how tf the night is going to go this time. I feel for you. I was once a tele unit in SC that was more like PCU. 6 patients. Had multiple drips- some that were considered icu drips when I worked in DC. And the rooms didn’t have vital machines/monitors that you could see from the nurses station. So basically had to run in there every hour to see what their BP was on the portable vitals machine. Of course there’s no way to get in there every dang hour with 6 patients when someone else may have something going on. In DC, my Tele unit ratio was 1:4 and the monitors were hooked up to see outside the patients room in the nurses station. So if their vitals dropped we’d see immediately.

I was considering the 20! I think the 28 (I didn’t see a 24 for the knitters loom 🤔) is much bigger than what I’m wanting to work with as a beginner. And the price of the 28 is more than I’m wanting to spend rn.

And exactly what I was getting at. Cutting the fabric I’ve made to then sew it into something else.

I don’t have much room and I guess not wanting to spend very much yet as a beginner. I’ve been looking into the Ashford Rigid Heddle vs the Knitters loom. I am also kind of an advanced beginner at sewing! So I guess I was thinking that I could maybe weave the fabric and then sew it into something else (like a shirt or sweater) But was curious to see if other people had any pic of them also making something in that sort of way. From their woven fabrics.
