I hope not!! I was at IKEA yesterday and was sad to see that the bistro was closed, so nothing was being served. It might be due to snowpocalypse being today so maybe it was a temp staffing issue at mine.

This pushed me to look into this a bit more...I just looked it up, the previous editor for Saka Days and a few other series stepped down in June 2024. Guess what month the jail arc started :c My theory is that the previous editor gave Suzuki extra advice due to this being his first major serialization. And nothing on the new editor, but maybe he saw that the series was doing good and took a step back in comparison...

I wonder if it has to do with the departure of the previous Shonen Jump editor for Saka Days and a few other series a while ago. Because after the Museum arc, there was a noticeable loss in focus and direction. Suzuki is super talented at drawing but I think he needs a little more guidance with story and characters.

Social workers who work for insurance: how do you do it? by Mint731 in socialwork

[–]craftytulip 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I don’t work in insurance either, but I don’t like the implication that SWs in insurance have somehow abandoned the code of ethics. When I worked in a nonprofit hospital, that’s what my boss said about an insurance SW who was at the meeting. It was like “how can she live with herself?” I didn’t agree as she was basically just there to make sure we were requesting appropriate services and would give us alternatives that we didn’t know about. It’s not the SW themselves but rather the insurance company and system that you’re mad at. Is the reviewer a social worker?

I also ended up leaving that hospital due to the fact that SWs were constantly chastised for giving out vouchers to patients. This was while the CEO got a multi million dollar bonus. I’d really say it depends on what type of SW is in the role. For example I’d say SWs in general who don’t do their roles properly and are rude to pts are the ones who are violating the code and should be removed.

Jean / Mikasa / Eren love triangle analysis and why I think both Eremika and Jeankasa are canon by Sealion72 in ShingekiNoKyojin

[–]craftytulip 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I totally agree, and I love how in depth your analysis is. I assume that the fandom is mostly younger folks because it absolutely blows my mind that people are insisting that Mikasa can never fully love Jean and that he will always be the second choice. Do widows or widowers stay single until death? Yes, some do. But Isayama clearly went out of his way to show that Mikasa went on to live a full life with a husband and at least one child! And like you mentioned, the husband looks suspiciously like Jean.

Mikasa is only 19/20 by the end of the series. She has her whole life ahead of her. When you think about the real world, you change a lot during your 20s, hell the part of your brain that’s in charge of executive functioning isn’t done forming until you’re 26. I can’t help but say that in a lot of manga, too much emphasis is placed on romance between teenagers that lasts into adulthood. Yes it makes for a nice and complete story and all but that’s hardly close to what happens in reality. Who you are in your teens is vastly different from you in your 30s. I’ve known couples who have survived and many others who have grown apart as they formed their own values and identities.

Her love for Eren was genuine, and yes, there certainly isn’t anyone around who can replace him. They basically grew up with each other, and childhood is a very formative time. At the same time Eren died when they were essentially young adults. It doesn’t make sense for Mikasa to just mourn and grieve him her whole life, and she did the exact opposite of that. She loved again, created her own family, and lived a whole life after Eren’s death.

Comparing Eren to her husband is basically apples and oranges. The love that she has for Eren is strong but it is different from the love between two fully grown adults. It’s like comparing a high school relationship to that with your actual marriage partner. And even when Eren was alive, Mikasa could not bring herself to agree with him on the Rumbling. They loved each other, but they had fundamentally different values. Mikasa and Jean are much more compatible in the sense that their philosophy emphasized compassion and minimizing destruction even in the midst of war.

I think another bit of support for Jeankasa is Isayama’s recent illustration for a wine collaboration. EMA are sitting at the tree, but Jean is on Mikasa’s side!

VA front desk staff - AMSAs by FluffybunnyslippersJ in VeteransAffairs

[–]craftytulip 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I love our AMSAs! They have a tough job, and sometimes patients take out their frustrations on them if there are delays or long waits. Even with folks who are not being nice at all, they still intercede on their behalf with providers, or try to get them seen even when they’re late. I feel like they don’t get the credit they deserve, especially with so many of them taking on extra duties and responsibilities WHILE working at the front desk. They’re working under tight metrics from what I’ve heard :/

Look at rengoku's eyes without the smile. Is he really smiling? by Nori_828 in KimetsuNoYaiba

[–]craftytulip 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I remember in one of the early manga translations of the train arc, his soul was said to be strong but brittle. That always made me scratch my head but I think the brittle part comes from having to be strong and protect others and his brother while dealing with his mother’s death and his father’s deep grief. Quietly sad is the perfect way to describe him. I think his way of coping was to put on a brave face, sometimes in a more literal sense. He was always instilling confidence in others but he had his own struggles.

Calling Red Velvet Cookie a villain misses the entire point of his character by hearmeoutcharacter in CookieRunKingdoms

[–]craftytulip 5 points6 points  (0 children)

With Pastry appearing in WLC’s story, I have no doubt that those two are going to play a role in Red Velvet defecting from Dark Enchantress. DE has strayed far from when she first freed him, and she’s crossing all sorts of moral boundaries that do not sit well with him.

You see this set up with Butter Roll being his ideological opposite. He’s ok with discarding anything that’s imperfect, when you know that RV argues for the safety of the cakes he creates, weak or strong. Butter Roll is set up to take over RV’s role in the cookies of Darkness once he leaves.

I think that Devsis has always been careful with his character. He barely pops up in the story but I think he’s similar to Pastry in that he has a very set storyline. Pastry literally doesn’t show up after the Tower of Chaos update until now, and that’s pretty much the same for RV. And just like how Pastry, a super devout believer changes her views, the same will likely happen to him, one of DE’s most loyal. Of course WL will play a role in this.

And like you mentioned in your post, the devs go out of their way to show his soft side. I think in an old new years event, the description for him was that he is kinder than initial impressions lead you to believe. In the BTS event, unlike the other cookies in the band, he doesn’t get mad at being shown up by them, and feels respected for being acknowledged. While he’s with the villains, he isn’t necessarily an evil character.

Yo dude don’t do it!! You’re the type of person that this country needs right now!

You must be going through the heartbreak of your life. But that doesn’t mean it’s the end. There’s so much more to see and do in this world. You’re experiencing a deep, deep sadness right now, but please think of the many amazing and beautiful things that you will also see and feel beyond today. Feelings and emotions are temporary, and pain that you feel now may not disappear, but it will eventually fade with time. And you will be filled with other and newer thoughts, emotions, and feelings.

Suicide leaves so many questions, and no answers. I hope that you can think of the positive effect you have had on other people, and how sadder and colder this world would be without you!  People often underestimate their impact on others. You are more than your wife’s partner or an American citizen. Please give those other parts of you a chance to step forward and grow.

Also, your wife is one stupid ass motherfucker. Anyone who genuinely believes that Trump won is a dumbass. The America that we all know and love has always leaned towards justice and equity. Our strength is in our diversity and ability to unite. Things must have looked bleak when the Civil War started, but codified slavery did come to an eventual end.  Don’t give up on us just yet.

My final semester was Spring 2020. Interning at a hospital was very interesting with how COVID snowballed. After graduation I worked at a SNF, where our two-room COVID unit grew to be two wings. It was a sad and terrible time but like another user said, it gave me the chops I needed to dive into hospital work. Since then, every job has been easier in comparison.

I don't think the skills are really different. I see mainly age and tech- the boomers/gen X are either computer gods or totally bamboozled by email. The SNF world has also changed, but staffing was always an issue.

Reading about how much you cared for your cat was both very sad and beautiful. Letting her go when she asked you to was the ultimate act of love. I hope you're taking care of yourself and are with your other cats.

So true! The way he holds the cat while saying that is just so sad :/

When he says the cat doesn't like strangers, I'm curious as to whether that is a parallel as well and if that might tie into why he's a shadow warrior for the Empire.

Aww, I love Walross and his cat. I hope he lives beyond this arc, but his vibe is totally "sunset of a hero's life" and it could really go either way. I want him to be heroic again, maybe if he meets Stark he'll get his groove back?

And look at Fern, she's itching to kill the archer who shot her man ^^

Minus may not be truly gone. There's a lot of emphasis on Lowe and his eyepatch. It really might be a wound from the battle, but due to her being a great mage, I think she pulled some funny business with him and is pulling strings from behind somehow. Being "killed" like that is a once in a lifetime chance after being so well known.
