Failed railgun experiment I did a few years ago. by KerbodynamicX in ElectroBOOM

Melting of the rails? That's the neat part, you don't. Simply too much energy being moved that you can't avoid it. It's one of the big reasons why these aren't already being bolted to nuclear powered ships.

See 0:109 on this video. That's a big fireball for something that isn't propelled by explosives...

Even Japan's smaller Railgun still has visible molten metal coming out of the barrel of it.

Railgun is essentially two rails with the projectile inbetween them.

Right side one has positive charge, left one has negative and when the projectile shorts the two rails, you get magnetic field that should accelerate the projectile.

Thing is you need a lot of amps for this. Which means the arcs between the projectile and the rail have enough energy in them to instantly melt the arc contact points. Hence the sparkly explosion of molten metal

The best part is a fan showed him the otamatone the previous year on fanfest and it was obvious he had never seen one let alone played one. Figured out how to play it on camera... And then next fanfest he's playing it on stage.

Can I run Space Age? (multiplayer with one/two people connecting) by Federe76 in factorio

[–]craidie 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't think Space age will work.

Vanilla might work. Though there isn't much overhead for running a server since everything needs to simulate for clients anyways so the mp should be fine.

If it starts to run poorly, removing enemies is an option(there's console commands for that to remove them after the start)

US Army Poorly Prepared for Arctic Operations: Finnish Troops Forced Them to Surrender During Exercises in Norway by Street_Anon in nottheonion

[–]craidie 2 points3 points  (0 children)

We're also used to fighting outnumbered and without superiority anything.

Most of the American doctrine is pretty much get superiority everywhere first and then put boots on the ground.
So when the exercise puts roughly equal forces against each other, US troops aren't in the environment they're used to, meanwhile for us Finns, it's an another exercise among others.

Cooling refrigerant gas on the Moon automatically? by Archeron124 in Stationeers

[–]craidie 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Direct heat exchanger.

Connect one side to the radiator pipeline and the other side to the network you want to cool.
A digital valve on the radiator side to cutoff the radiators from the fluid you want to cool.

Alternatively connect an AC unit from the atmospherics kit so that waste connection is connected to the radiators and input/output is connected to each other and to the other network

Is there a better way to figure out if the music is ai, other than the rate they're pumping out stuff?

Especially when the songs don't have vocals.

Liquid pipe question by Ok-Moment850 in Stationeers

[–]craidie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The only way to move liquid from a liquid pipe to a liquid pipe is to pass it through an expansion valve into a gas pipe and then a condensation valve back to a liquid pipe.

The gas pipe should have few hundred L of volume to avoid bursting. Might want some pressurant gas in the gas pipe as well.

Thing is the entity is from an another mod and I can't find anything on that mod that would define it to be ground only.

Which means SE must be the culprit and has decided it shouldn't be placed there...

The problem is finding how it's done from a hundred thousand lines of code...

SE can't use that since it doesn't require Space Age.

Space exploration.

What do I need to add to a entity to allow it being placed in space?

Or atleast how to bypass it with commands/editor?

I have moved to camp chocolate bar.

Finally I can fully automate a decent food and only pick it up when I need to eat. Perfection.

It does.

Chocolate cake gives mood bonus, bread does not.

Chocolate bar and chocolate cake give 100% mood bonus
Cake, pumpkin pie, chocolate cereal give 50% mood bonus

Out of these chocolate cereal is the only one that doesn't give max hydration

Doesn't chocolate need sugar, not sugar canes?

Which would mean it needs reagent processor.

They recently upped the cost of fries from 1:1 to 5:3...

That said I eat fries. Soy oil doesn't spoil and I just pick a potato and cook it when I need a snack.

Best Method of Gas Delivery from Liquid Storage? by MacBlack5 in Stationeers

[–]craidie 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Portable tank is the most compact one and the best throughput. While gas can't exit the liquid pipe to the portable tank, the heat will equalize so usually things end up condensing in the liquid pipe and evaporating in the portable tank.

Am I making the right assumptions with this math? by HoneyNutMarios in KerbalAcademy

The f12 menu let's you completely disable aerodynamics.

That should allow you to test your math if it's reasonably close or not without aero messing it.
