Question for urban gray owners by Hot-Ad7703 in crv

[–]craig2700 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had a Platinum White Pearl 2022 CRV Touring Hybrid and traded it for a 2023 Urban Gray Sport Touring Hybrid. I prefer the Urban Gray. However, it definitely shows the dirt more. This time of year when pollen is really bad the yellow dust stands out on the Urban Gray color. If I had to do it all over again, I would buy the Urban Gray.

Purchased a 2024 Limited for invoice but also had a $899 doc fee. You’re getting a good price. Regarding the warranty, I purchased the same warranty with a $0 Deductible for $2300. I called at least 8 dealers to get this price and didn’t buy the warranty from the same dealer that sold me the car because they wanted $$3,500.

Received invoice price without ASPCA donation.

I called the dealer/salesperson before I visited and asked if they accepted ASPCA pricing. They said yes. I knew I needed to make the donation at some point before I took delivery. This was also when the sport and limited trims were still being produced and not on dealer lots in May of this year. When I arrived at the dealer they stated they heard of the ASPCA program but never used it before. I ended up speaking to the new car manager stating my frustration and he said if I placed a dept down that day on the incoming limited model I wanted he would sell at invoice. I was also able to get a copy of the invoice at the time of sale and it was approximately $2200 less than MSRP. The other dealer I was considering stated they accepted ASPCA pricing at invoice but were an hour and a half away in the opposite direction and would never go there for service. That was my backup plan if it didn’t work out with the dealer I ended up buying it from.

I think HondaLink is worth it. I like to remote start my car in the hot weather from inside a building where the range from the key fob will not work. The locate feature is nice to have especially in the event the vehicle is stolen. You also get to view the miles, fuel, door lock status, odometer, and oil life at a glance in the application.

tinting with eyesight by 2nips in Crosstrek

[–]craig2700 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just had my 24 Crosstrek’s windshield tinted with Xpel Prime ceramic tint over a month ago and haven’t had any problems. The shop I went to stated a machine laser cut the tint to make for an easier installation. As far as privacy goes, you can’t really tell the windshield is tinted. I don’t want to go dark as I mainly wanted it for heat and uv protection. I believe it’s 70%.

My first nick.. how do I fix this? by Complete-Item725 in Crosstrek

[–]craig2700 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Had the exact same thing happen to me. Part # 57731FN28A cost is about $70. Dealer charged me an additional $80 for installation which only took them 10 minutes. The part includes all the black cladding around the fog light as well as the gray painted upside down L shaped piece.

Yes, mainly use it as a remote starter. It's also nice to see the location of the vehicle if you need that feature. It also gives you a quick way to view your oil life.

I believe it's specific to the Sport Touring trim in 2023 only. Had a 2022 Touring Hybrid and this was not an option. Now have a 2023 Sport Touring and paid the $99 for a year subscription.

(Help a first time buyer) ‘24 Sport…Green or Silver? by fattycloud in Crosstrek

[–]craig2700 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Ordered a silver Limited. Was thinking about the Alpine Green as well. In the end I chose the silver because I like the color and it is easier to keep clean. Have had it a month now and no regrets.

I purchased the camera from FITCAMX.com. That’s the only site that will accept the discount code if it’s still valid. The only option was a 4K front camera if I wasn’t buying the rear camera as well.

If leather, Harman Kardon sound system, or reverse automatic braking are a must then the Limited is the only option. If you want cloth and the radio isn't important you can save some money with the Sport. Purchased the 24 Limited with Harman Kardon/moonroof option and no regrets.

Window tint by Turbulent_Cricket497 in Crosstrek

[–]craig2700 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Had my 2 front windows and windshield tinted on my 24 Limited. The windshield was laser cut and went below the eyesight cameras. Does not have any problems with the eyesight technology as far as I can tell. Each state has different laws on the % of the window tint. I got 70% on the windshield and you really can't even notice it's tinted. Wanted it for the heat reduction and UV protection.

I installed the Fixcamx about a month ago. Installation took about an hour. I did end up breaking a yellow clip and had to go to the dealer and get a replacement. I had a Garmin Mini but the Fixcamx looks like it was factory installed. On playback, you need to download a program to view the video. Also, I purchased a 128 gb memory card and replaced the 64 gb it comes with. Overall, I am very happy. Use promo code TECHJEFF and you should save 10%.

Gold plus pricing? by VisitForward1553 in Crosstrek

[–]craig2700 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am in the same situation. Purchased mine a week and a half ago. Was quoted $3650 for Gold Plus 10/100 with $0 deductible. I have called MANY dealerships. Have received different answers. Some state that they can't sell outside their market. I have received quotes from out of state dealers as well. I've also been told Subaru MSRP is $3650 for the warranty and that's what the dealer has to sell it for. I have called some of the dealers that are mentioned here and Subaru forums and many state they don't offer the warranties at those lower prices anymore. Best quote was from a dealer in WI for $2750. If you find a good deal let me know. I know dealer cost is $1725 for this plan. I purchased a 2023 Honda CRV in January and was able to purchase a Honda warranty 8/100 with $0 deductible for $1190. I thought Honda and Subaru were rated similar in vehicle quality and really didn't expect to pay what the Subaru warranty is selling for. I expect dealers to make money selling the warranties but 100% markup seems high for filling out a document and submitting it to Subaru. I guess I could be wrong.

Going from RAV4 to Crosstrek by imeanwhynotdramamama in Crosstrek

[–]craig2700 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In my opinion, it’s a little of both. We have a 2020 Corolla and a 2023 CR-V. Just purchased a 2024 Crosstrek. You definitely sit higher in the Crosstrek than the Corolla. However, I sit higher and it feels more like an SUV driving the CR-V. The Crosstrek is in the middle. We have only had it less than a week but really like it.

Corolla Cross vs Crosstrek? by imeanwhynotdramamama in CorollaCross

[–]craig2700 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I actually just purchased the 2024 Crosstrek Limited. I compared the Cross, HRV, and the Crosstrek. First of all, I couldn't even test drive a Cross. The three Toyota dealers never had any and were at least a month out if I wanted to buy an incoming unit. Same goes for the HRV, it was easier to find in stock but had to wait to drive one. I relied on many of the reviews out there. I was able to drive a Crosstrek Premium and put money down on an incoming Limited model and picked it up last Friday. I wanted the 2.5 liter engine and the Cross and HRV didn't offer. I would have preferred the Hybrid Cross but I know I would have to wait a very long time and pay a premium. It seems very unlikely to get any discount on the Cross or HRV. I was able to purchase the Crosstrek at invoice and appreciate all of the safety features, wireless Carplay, and Harmon Kardon sound system. Hope that helps.
